So I failed my road test
I don't care that much since I don't go anywhere, but it really was crap..
I did everything perfectly, parallel parking, K-turn, all that. So when I was finished he told me to like, park on the side, and I did. There he's like, "Okay, you gotta come back." and I'm like, "I failed?" and he's like, "Yea, you went right through 3 stop signs."
So I said, "I thought I stopped at them.." and he's like, "You did. But you looked both ways while you were rolling to the stop. You did not look both ways WHEN you were stopped."
So then he storms out of the car and like releases all this anger out on his fellow DMV person. He's just like, "AnOTHER one that failed because of stop signs. What is it with these kids? This test is such a joke and they can't even pass it. They shouldn't be on the road."
I really just wanted to say to him, "So you're saying that out on the real road you don't look while rolling?" But meh, whatever
So I go back on January 4th *shrug*

That's nasty. But you really need to look to the directions, since you never know is there other traffic coming your way. I passed my test in the first try only problem was that I didn't turn when the instructor said me to since I thought that I saw no motor vehicles sing on the road where I was ordered to turn. I'm glad that it isn't fatal mistake

I did look, just not while the car was at a complete stop
I dont care all that much about getting my license since I've got nowhere to go, so I'll just keep taking the test

Its really not about "real life" driving (though honestly I agree with the instructor), its about doing what is expected of you to pass the test. They really just want to see two things, you can control the car, and that you respect the road.
You'll get it next time.

Why wouldn't you look after the car was stopped? It doesn't make any sense. You are there, you are not doing anything, why not look ? lol
I agree with the instructor.

Yea I'm starting to see where he's coming from.. I'd probably be more understanding of how he looked at it if he didn't go on a pissy tantrum about it

Can't blame you there, it doesn't appear terribly professional.

Don't worry too much about it. I think there is a rule that the DMV can't pass anyone the first try out. Don't think I know anyone that has.
And what's a K-turn? I know a U-turn and a Y-turn but not a K-turn.

You should do the looking when you area stopped since then you can better see the traffic and react to it. Lets say that you stop at the sing and you don't look around and then you start moving and then you look left and right and you see huge truck coming from right and you hit the brakes but the truck hit your cars front sending it to spin and then the rear end hits the trailer and you can imagine the rest.

I passed my driving test on the first try, only had a few points shaved off for going too slow during part of the maneuvering, but I wasn't gonna complain. I'm sure you will pass your test next time

here in the states, southern california specifically, we have highways that are 4 lanes wide + carpool in each direction, and there's still bumper-to-bumper traffic
