The AGONY!!!

On saturday (8th December) i was in the gym again with Mac, Joe and the crew. I spent maybe an hour doing kongs and getting more daring until i got bored and decided to go on the bars for a bit
I spent a whole hour working on pulling up on the bars doing pull ups. The twist is that the pull ups i was doing weren't the ones with palms facing towards you. I was doing pull ups with palms facing away since that's how you grip a wall or w/e to muscle up and i really need some strength in my arms.

Anyway, my muscles are stiff and aching and have been since sunday no matter how many hot baths i take, it's agony to stretch my arms out atm

Anyone have any suggestions how to unstiffen my muscles?

Time and rest combined with more hot bathing and light stretching. They're probably overstrained.

If you are warming up and cooling down before the exercise then you should not really have a problem. You want to be careful as you may cause a pull, strain or tear.

Should probably deal with the calluses before they rip off. I get them pretty bad if I don't soak and scrape them off regularly.

About 6-7 years ago after sudden lots of excercise I had my muscles tear on my shoulder. The pain, oh the pain. I had to go to the hospital since every hour that was passing it was getting worse, I had problem breathing. The doctor gave me twice some painkiller with a shot. Then some painkillers that I had to take for weeks. The damage was so much that I couldn't almost use the whole side for a month and I was having pain on it for months. It mostly went away after about 6-7 months and for good after 13-4 months but still I didn't dare to do much with it again.
Do not do more than you are used to. Slowly, very slowly and one day at a time.

Like BlueMak said - do not do more than you are used to and increase the load step by step.

I used to do rowing and with tough trainings every day my body just got adapted to the pain and after a few years addicted too

5 mins light jogging then stretch lots.
most people underestimate the importance of warming muscles up before working them, they really need warmed up first.

a powerball? Yeah we've got one of those and i use it all the time, when i was rehabilitating my broken wrist my dad bought one for us all to use
Btw Zelig, calluses are quite important for free runners, we need really tough skin considering the strain it's under when your'e vaulting over someting prickly and concrete so i need mine really

Hmm.. My muscles aren't bad at all today, twinges when i stretch my arms out but zomg, i have biceps

Well, I do quite a bit of work with weights, caussing calluses. Eventually they'll start to pinch and tear off when I'm using weights, so it's generally much less painful to just scrape them off.

Tough skin is alright, but huge hunks of dead skin just get in the way.

Yeah i can see why, but when you freerun you tend to lose your calluses just as quickly as you earn them, especially if you do cat leaps
Oh that reminds me, now i've got some biceps if my arms aren't hurting still tonight i'll have a go at some cat leaps and muscle ups

imo, i find it's fruitless to do a workout... then when the pain hits... letting it completely disapate before continueing the exercise again...

Actually i find it's even better if after you've done the excersise and are in pain the next day... to try and do consistantly, a lighter version of the same excersise to get rid of the pain quicker and to keep building on what was started. things go alot quicker that way...

but then again everyone is different..

i REALLY like doing self distructive weight lifting..

start out with some heavy stuff, and have gradually lighter weights all ready so that you can emediately drop the heavier and grab the next one until you can't even lift 1 pounders lol... (20-30 reps per weight if possible)..... do that twice a day and you'll be massive lol..

that would be awesome and i'd totally go for it.. but i don't have any weights to train with
pure freerunning for me i'm afraid

my advice is, just use the arms naturally. so don't do stuff another way just because its hurting. if you do this it will be over in no time..
