My son is real sick, scarlet fever.
On the brightside, it's easily treatable and he should be well soon...on the downside the poor kid is SICK!
He's so wiped of energy and his little eyes look so tired & sad, it's breaking me heart.
Sorry if I get a little weird later, I'm just stressed.

That's sad to hear, I hope he feels better soon. It's hard to watch someone hurt, but as long as he's going to be okay try to rest easier.

Scarlet fever
Sorry to hear about the "wean" (as we would say over here - Ireland). My boy just turned five recently (he lives with his mom but I get to see him twice a week) and it would wreck me if he was ill, so hope your son is well on the way to recovery, all the best.

Thanks all. He's sleeping now, but getting up every couple of hours wanting some water & comforting so I'm expecting a looong night again. I'm gonna try and catch some zzzzz's while I can so I'll be up for it.

Scarlet fever used to be so common
sorry to hear about your youngen, Scarlet fever if untreated can be dangerous or cause substantial problems during adulthood too. It used to fairly common not so long ago, now with the rapid strep tests they can get it early, I know some folks are carriers. I rotated through pediatrics for a short while and wrote for lots and lots of ceclor and penvk, but I am skeptical that we are making better and stronger bugs. I won't bore you with strep and the pathology of diseases, but I certainly take Scarlet fever very seriouisly. Give us some updates, I'm an ortho guy now, but I see so many children that suffer from bacterial infections that are misdiagnosed in the emergency room and screened in the clinic after children have suffered, my prayers are with you and your child, may God protect you....and your child.

Can bacterial infections be immunised against?
Mind you, with all the scares over immunisations - most notably MMR, maybe over-immunisation is not a good thing anyway.
One line of thinking is that allergies, as well as being aggravated by pollution, may also result from a lack of anything the bodies defences NEED to fight.
What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger - there may well be some truth in that!

He's feeling better.
He's doing a lot better, he's got his color & his spunk back today. Me bro & family blew in from Hawaii a couple of days ago for a friends wedding up in Michigan, but on their way up there me bro dropped off "Zelda:Wind Waker" for him and he's been happily glued since. He's feeling a LOT better, thanks all!

My son as well
My 15 year old has strep as well, he and his class mates all came down with it, according to the rapid strep test, he sits with them all in a dimly lit basement computer lab at school, I think this happens to net gamers, They gave him amoxicillen and anti emetics, I think most folks call it the flu and ignore it till it gets worse...hope your youngen is on the mend, don't forget to give all the medication....even when he is feeling better..
