I enjoy anime, although I doubt you could call me an avid fan. Several series which I enjoy(ed) are Evangellion, Serial Experiments: Lain, Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun (although I didn't find it to be all that interesting more often than not.)
As for movie's I've seen quite a few, unfortunetly all I can remember at the moment are Akira and Princess Monoke.

Yeah I was actually going to see that this weekend, my friend had brought it over, we never got around to it though. Most of the films done by the people who made Princess Mononoke (however it's spelled) I've seen.

chobits? an adult anime?
it does have some adult themes to it, but it's definitely not an adult anime.

The battle between Osaka and the thing-o-ma-jabbers (can't quite remember their name at the moment) in the movie I found to be absolutely amazing.

I can run with that - I've actually just finished buying and watching all the Evangelion DVDs (all 10 of them! ) and it is one of the single greatest things I've ever seen, anime or otherwise.
I'm actually quite a newcomer to the whole anime thing (better late than never!), and it sucks that I've only just been able to watch all of Evangelion and want to discuss things, but everyone else's discussions have long since finished.
I also thoroughly enjoyed Full Metal Panic, but I'll agree that the ending was a bit weak.
