This is so unbelievable and yet it's TRUE. I wish I could train them to drop a few dozen into my backyard every day.
Here's the scoop:
A fella built a car wash in VA. After it was in operation for a while, he started noticing that it was losing money every week. So, at first the owner blamed the manager and his employees of using keys to steal quarters from the machines.
Well, they all denied doing any such thing!
So, the owner had security cameras set up and, lo! and behold! the cameras caught the thief. Actually, it was a few thieves!
BUT, what the cameras revealed came as a total shock to everyone. If the thievery hadn't been caught on camera, who would have believed it?
Following are some photos from the actual cameras:
That's a bird sitting on the rim of the coin cup:
The bird disappears into the depths of the coin cup:
Those are three US Quarters in the bird's beak:
Leaving no finger prints or other telltale evidence, it's up, up, and away!
What was even more intriguing was that this job was pulled off by more than one bird! There were a few of them working in tandem. One bird would disappear and jimmy the mechanism that would release the quarters and the others would grab them and take off with them.
These birds are starlings. They are attracted to bright and shiny items and use them for nesting and attracting the opposite sex.
