has anyone ever been hit by a virus and had something nasty happen, or have you always been a step ahead?

I've never been hit that i know of. I don't have a firewall or anything...hell, I don't even have a always-running virus scanner. I just download one everynow and then and give the ol' box a scan. I just delete any unknown email and try to stay away from the shady side of the internet. I have anything important on cd anyway.

It may be a little like unprotected sex; but hey, I like to live dangerously. Worst case scenerio the computer dies and I have a good reason to build a new one that the wife will accept.

I used to like getting viruses - I remember when they made letters drop off the screen or flash up a birthday messages instead of wiping your disk.

After I got my first "virus" (technically it wasn't, but I didn't know then) I've always been one step ahead.

I've got a whole loada virii I've amassed over the years. Some nice, some baaaaaad. I keep 'em so I can return fire when necessary
