dave grohl rocks !
the foo fighters new album is a masterpiece, in my own humble opinion. Classic rock n roll.
I think dave grohl is one of the few current rock superstars.

I never really got into Foo Fighters, though I've been meaning to check more of their stuff out. I know Grohl mostly from his Nirvana and QotSA work, which I both enjoy.

well i could ban you for thread crapping but I thought it would be more fun to ridicule the fact you like all the trendy UK bands (most of which suck ass), and you say a good old fashioned rock and roll band who can play their instruments suck.
but dont worry next time you post about something awful you like ill be all over it with smilies.
so now the mods are crapping all over my threads, anyone sane in here like the foo fighters or are you all deaf and into the arctic monkeys and kate nash?

my girlfriend adores the arctic monkeys *sigh* I'm trying to expand her horizons but its a tough sell.
I like the foo fighters but to be honest, lately I have not been enjoying them so much. I have not heard their newest album yet though, so hey maybe that'll change things.

yeah their last album was a bit of a failure I think. especially after the two before it. this one however is just good old fashioned rock. I like it, no poncing about with airy fairy synths or political lyrics, just guitars, drums and nice melodies with kicking rock tracks - puts me in mind of a rock album released in the 70's. I seriously do think dave grohl is extremely talented though. a fantastic drummer above everything however.

and lord knows drummers need talent these days.
I've been going to enough local shows where there are actually some FANTASTIC guitarists, basists, and vocalists, but honestly I haven't been seeing much talent in the drum section lately.
I'll have to check this album out though. Cause I wasn't fond of In your honor.

Haven't listen to it yet, should check it out in a few minutes. Been a fan of grohl since the Nirvana days. Very talented drummer and great front man for the foo fighters.

Yeah, he joined up for Songs for the Deaf. QotSA has had close to 30 different people play for different albums/tours, Josh Homme is the only consistent one.

Saw Grohl playing on an acoustic live set of some Grunge band out of Washington for some guy that killed himself later on...and I think that singer was married to Courtney Hole or something.
Im so happy because today I just found God...
think the Smashing Pumpkins did Rat in a Cage about Courtney Holes boyfriend too...
Now what was his name again?
wasnt there a band that used to have a song that went like:
Foooooo are you you.....Foo Foo Foo Foooo....
Foooooo are you you.....Foo Foo Foo Foooo....
Foooooo are you you.....Foo Foo Foo Foooo....
Foooooo are you you.....Foo Foo Foo Foooo....
I really want to know...
Foo Foo Foo are you?
Oh yeah...back to Grohl, he was on a BBC program the other night playing music he liked..I think they have a date in Manchester coming up soon.

So what's your guys favourite song(s) on the album? I find myself listening to "Stranger things have happened" over and over again, brilliant song.

my favourite would be "let it die" but I like most of them. "stranger things have happened" and "but honestly" are killer too.

Just picked up this disc yesterday and have been really enjoying it. I have been a huge Foo Fan since their inception and this disc is no exception.
I get so sick of hearing the same sampled stuff over and over again. I can't listen to hip hop anymore (actually, I could never really listen to it to begin with).
Long live rock and roll, and may rap die the death of hair metal from the 80's.

He did a long acoustic and guitar set on a show recently on Sky, but it was probably a rerun. He said he always drinks a few before he goes on stage to calm him down. What I liked was the arrangement with the violin, lead and melody as well as a drummer. I didnt see a bass, but i am sure there was one I think. I was an interesting interview to, the english bloke was rather spastic but Dave was composed and mellow, with his Elvis sunglasses..LOL He comes from a generation of Buckeyes from Ohio that are have been actors, musicians and whatever....I am from Dayton, we know who Buckeyes are..
