Fish woes
I've been dieting now for almost 6 months, and I've lost 30 lbs sofare, still got another 40 or so I wan't to lose. Damn meds are killin me heh. Anyhow, I've been eating almost strictly wraps with turkey, half a slive of cheese, and a small dot of mayo for the most part. To snack, I'll have a low cal pudding or somehting.. Anyhow back on subject..
For the first time in a very long time I decided to splurge and buy a box of beer battered fish from VandeCamp. I loved them once and so I figured why now. Well to my dismay, I open the box and there's about 2 dozen frozen flies in there I want to vomit now.
Back to wraps for me..

Was the diet passed over by a doctor, nutritionist, or the like, and does it include exercise? Not to discourage you, since the diet is obviously working, but I'm not a fan of diets where people are basically starving themselves, and still doing no exercise.
The wraps there sound like they could get pretty boring. My summer job's been dull, so I've been occupying myself with making ever more fancy sandwiches during my lunch break. My latest favourite is pastrami with mayo, mustard, bread & butter pickles, tomatoes, onions, peppers, lettuce, cucumbers and smoked gouda. Days when I'm more pressed for time, I find pre-marinated tuna with lettuce is quite good as well.

Zelig, that is a very good question, and I'd be happy to explain. I have a genetic disorder (multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 and zollinger ellison syndrome. While being treated at the National Institutes of Health for a routine operation (parathyroid ectomy) they fucked up big time, and my circulation in my left leg was cut off entirely, there for giving me Antirior Compartment Syndrome, since they did not diagnose it and just let me sit on masive pain medications for 3 weeks, before sending me home with no diagosis, or care, my leg was damaged, killing off lots of nerves and damaging others, to the extent of constant pain (I still take very strong medication for it - with little help sadly).
This being NIH, I expected atleast a diagnosis, since I was told by my endocrine doctor here at home that a first year med student should be able to diagnose it. Sadly they fucked up big time at my expense. There is a legal actions opened up because of it as well.
Long story short, even before the "accident" I was not able to exercise like a normal person could, but now it's all most impossable for even walks.
Between all the drugs which have made me gain a ton of weight, and not being able to exercise much, it's been very though. But I've been determined enough to lose what I can.
My diet consists of 2 lite wraps a day, possably a slimfast, with some fruit, a multi vitamin, water, tea, sometimes even a diet soda. No eating out (though sometimes with doctor stuff I have to, those times I eat a salad etc), so no BK (which I loved back in the day heh) etc. It's been slow going, 30 lbs since I really started back in Feb. I'm not starving myself by any means, I'm trying to stay as health as I can, while eating smart.
For those rare moments when I do crave somthing "bad" I have some "100 cal" packs which have backed cheetos at 100 cal per back, or a special k chocolate bar, which is basically a diet candy bar, with only 100 cal, and low fat.
As long as I keep at my current rate, and walk as much as I can, but sadly is not a lot, I hope to continue to lose.

Ouch, that's rough. I've got a good friend who's kidneys failed a few years ago. He was lucky enough to get a transplant, but was limited (and still is, to a degree) to certain activities and diets.
Congrats on your progress so far, and staying positive about the whole thing.

Wow, Spock, that is a unique story. It never ceases to amaze me the stories people have, especially those you meet on the internet. I think its great you can keep such a good sense of humor given your unfortunate circumstances.
Back to the topic of the thread... It reminds me of a time in college. After weeks of eating Ramen, mac and cheese, and burgers on the "Foreman", my roomie and I decided to go nuts and cook a really great dinner. I made fresh pasta, home made meat sauce, bought expensive olive oil, good vodka (not a wine fan), the works. Spend a couple hours getting it together. Sat down to eat it, had a few bites (delicious, of course), picked up the bread we bought and took a bite. Dipped the bread in the sauce and took another, only to realize the bread had mold on it... Very dissapointing.

Ouch. Mold is a huge cooloff. We once went to a restaurant to celebrate my graduation of 8th grade. It wasn't anything fancy but we had dined there many times and the food was delicious. So, we got our meals. I started eating, only to find that my salad was moving. There was a F*CKING cochroach in my salad. We've never been to that place again.
Seriously, you might think that i made this up but i didn't

My mother grew up on somthing called "funny bones" they are made by Drake's. They really can only be found in NYC, and other major cities, not upstate. Well my mother finally bought a box, and told my dad to try one, that he would love them.
Well he ate half of one, and looked over and asked my mom why she thought they were so special? He said they tasted spongy, and had a very strange yet sharp taste. Mom said no, that they are choclate, and peanut butter, and should be sweet and creamy..
Well Dad turns on the light only to find the entire inside green with mold, and small white worms infested in the center. I almost fell to the floor laughing. Needless to say mom called and complained, and they offered 20 bucks in free coupons for free boxes - as if we wanted more of them...
