Ipod Video (30Gig) Assistance needed.
Im currently trying to help out my sister with her 30G ipod Video. This was bought (relatively cheap) and came without any instructions.I have never used a ipod before so i don't have a clue how to use this one properly.
I have had no problem at all getting the ipod synced with the pc and music files are uploaded without any problem. It's getting the DVD files converted to ipod compatible files is the problem.
What is the best software available to convert DVD files to be able to upload to itunes and then sync to the ipod video.
I have tried Mobilevideo (freeware) which only seams to convert the dvd files into several 30 minute files.Im after some software that converts a dvd files into one file that will play the whole dvd from the start to the end without selecting the next file to continue.
I have explained my problem as best as i can for now,i hope some of you guys can give me some assistance.

damed IPOD..know what you mean man...I have a current issue of Maximum PC magazine so lemme see what it says. On page 24 of the May issue it discusses several apps
AutoGK www.autogk.me.uk
DVD Decrypter (google it)
Ripit4Me www.ripit4me.org
FixVTS http://download.videohelp.com/FixVTS/
AC3 Filter http://AC3Filter.sourceforge.net
just a few software programs that are free, and if you can get the copy of the mag it has some tips.

Ya, but wouldn't the righteous MIG-31 have to circumvent the copyright protection? I think that is illegal. lol
I found that with a 8mb+ connection a fast ass tracker is faster than encoding a DVD to mp4. There aren't very many programs to choose from because everybody is afraid of a lawsuit.

who said the dvd's are legal.I'm not directly aiming for a freeware software.Just as long as as it's helpful so i can show some assistance.
i have the ipod installed on my pc,unfortunately i had to format the ipod to gain sync.
Im after some software to enable a whole streamed playback.

I think Nero can encode to iPod mp4s. Of course the DVDs will have to decrypted first.

Thanks for the replies but i'm still stuck at a certain point. All files are converted to MP$'s with no problem.
But all files are in seperate playback files.
If possible is the a way to convert all into one,so i have full continuas playback just like a dvd would but on the ipod.

So you got Nero. Try Nero Vision. It has some basic editing mode, all you need to put those together.
Then encode it to iPod video and you are good
ps. Jeff did you google that?

i may be wrong, but i think there may be a file size limit that an ipod will actually read? unless those files are the seperate chapters
i know with my MP3 player, if you want to play a movie on it (very low res) it has to be broken up into several parts
if it's just the chapters, then there should be apps that can merge the files

Tried that, and when it came to converting it to ipod mp3's,stopped due to errors.

If thats the case this may well become a small problem.Uploading the files to the ipod is no problem.Except for the default files thats used.As this is automatically listed in numerical order adding more video files is going to be the problem.
Explaining this to my sister is going to be the problem. And probably annoying as well.
Select file 1 and watch/then select file 2 and watch and so on.If this is the case then all i can see about the Ipod Video makes it pointless to have.

Way to go temeteus82
DVD FAb Platinum has done exactly what i wanted.Very much appreciated also.Unfortunately the rep's system is not allowing me to give you a little boost for the assistance.
Just another question how do you delete files from the ipod video without formatting. (Never Mind that question figured it out)
