Well, I don't smoke very often anymore, but I do have one occasionally. When I was a smoker however, I probably smoke 10-12 cigarettes a day on average. I had my first smoke at probably 13, but didnt really start smoking regularly untill I was about 16. When I started smoking, cigarettes cost about $2.00/pack. When I quit over a year ago, they were about $5.50/pack. I think currently they run about $5.00/pack in NY state.
Just a suggestion, you may want to include people who chew tobacco in to your study, as it is pretty much the same thing.

i think it's up to nearly 14 bucks a pack here....
i never and will never smoke.. but my father probably goes through a pack every day.
His fingers have truned that stained orange/yellow from smoking and with the fingers he holds the smokes in.
He was at one point up to chain smoking 3-4 packs per day during the most stressful time of his life.

I smoke hookah, I started when I was 22. I do a bowl a day probably and it's so cheap it's insignificant.

it seems a pack is the common amount for people mostly, 1-1 1/2 with my relatives. 3-6 bucks a day or so is alot of money in a year.... id rather buy computer parts.......with $2190 extra bucks a year............or porn lol just kidding cant get that myself anyhow
jeez with that kind of cash i can build 1 monster rig a year or a god rig every 2 years....each one better than the last!
i mean if i had just 6 bucks in my pocket, i wont be as hungry as i am now...

I don't smoke! All I can say is I tried it once just to see what it was all about but never got the point why you spend all that money for nothing. I did not even do a whole one lol.
