Hehe, I'm still around, just taking a break from "obsessive" type internet use.
I HAD to take a break for quite a while because of laser eye surgery (a month or so at least) I had about 6 weeks ago or so, but I have been busy with other real life stuff too. I went to Georgia for about a week, from NY- in a car- for my bro's wedding, and soon I'll be going on a trip to Yellowstone for our "honeymoon" type trip. We never got to go on the traditional honeymoon right after we got married because she switched jobs and went from almost 5 weeks vacation built up over a 5 year period - to 10 days paid vacation at the new job. No seniority sucks.
Also I've been spending a lot more time watching movies and whatnot on the new TV with my free time, HD is sweet.

EPI-Lasik is extremely painful.. and takes a long time to heal. normal LASIK is a breeze in comparison and takes much less time to get the final result. I was in agony for about 4 or 5 days, like someone was gouging my eyes out with hot pokers every second of every waking moment. Not for the faint of heart. Normal Lasik is almost pain free. Epi-Lasik is for people with pretty bad prescriptions, like what I had.
After my wife saw what I went through, she's terrified and will never do it she says. If I had to I'd do it again though, it's worth it when your vision is that blurry.
The best part is wearing nice polarized sunglasses.. it's amazing how much nicer it is on your eyes even on cloudy days.
These are the ones I got. http://www.mauijim.com/mjweb/public/...RODSKU=H506-23

Sorry I didn't answer this - I never saw the post. I was searching for something else and saw this post.
Anyway- LASIK is where they make a "flap"- basically cutting a thin piece of your eyeball while leaving a small part attached, then resurfacing the cornea, putting the flap back and letting it all heal.
Epi-LASIK is where no flap is created, they just laser your eyeball and it heals on it's own, taking a lot longer than regular LASIK because you need to grow back all the stuff that is burned away. It's also a LOT more painful because your eyeball is left raw exposed to the air until it heals.. basically it feels like a hot poker in your eye constantly for up to a week or so. This is a good explination- http://www.allaboutvision.com/vision.../epi-lasik.htm
At the "sunglasses hut" in the mall those sun glasses were about 270 bucks- that is where I first saw them and tried them on. On-line they were also around 240 to 270 bucks, but at my eye doctor where I got the LASIK done I had a 30% discount which brought the already lower priced sunglasses down to about $170. Now after using them for a few months I am very happy with them, I would recommend them to anyone, they are really nice and are great for driving especially.
