I "lost" 3 dogs in my life, it hurts, a lot. Word of advice, if you want to cry, cry.

When my dog of 15 1/2 years died in his sleep, I cried. I know how you feel.
After three years we got another puppy.

I too feel your pain, dogs more than cats you might say, are more like members of the family to me. Here in the UK, pets are like UK citizens with many protections and rights, and even their own cemetaries.

I am like that, I have lost people close to me and I didn't cry. Dogs though is different. Can't explain why.

Exactly.
I tried to be strong when my Mom died and I did not cry. I never even get misty eyed at funerals.
I drove the family cat to the vet to be put to sleep and did not blink an eye.
But when the dog died, I buried him and held out for about 24 hours then cried myself to sleep the next night. It must be something about the unconditional devotion they have. They are more forgiving than Humans and their innocence is pure. They live in the moment every day yet have a need to include you in their every thought.

That sucks man. I had one dog that always got out. Some guy threatened that he would kill him if he ever saw him out in his yard. One day he did and killed him. We couldn't prove it but I know he did.

My heart goes out to you and your family RM. My wife's dog is a Britney & though it's not my favorite of our two "children" she is a very sweet & wonderful dog. Clovis is my Basset Hound and he's working on 10 years old. He still acts like a puppy though and is in good health so I hope he & I have many more years left. I honestly do not know what I am going to do when his time comes. Cry like a baby for a while & be pissed & mad & feel like we didn't do enough when we could.... *deep breath* hell I'm getting choked up just thining about it. If you're feelings are anything like mine.. well I just underrstand I guess.
Dogs must go to heaven. It wouldn't be possible for a heaven to exist without them.
Shit. Thanks. Now I'm just about in tears. I'm going home to play with Clovis for a while.
