A shooting at my university
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...ooting02m.html
yea. It happened when i was at school this morning. I heard it and was like "hey is that gunfire?" and someone else was lke "nah it doesn't sound right"
yea. I'm so freaked out right now. I went and holed up in the library for awhile because the swat team was here and they thought the shooter was still at large...
anyway I'm home now. I don't want to deal with the madness there. But yea I'm just really down now. I didn't know the program director very well but I did know her. she was one of the first people I met when i toured the school...

F*cking sick, what is wrong with people. I read about this a bit ago. Last I heard, they didn't know who it was, but it appeared to be a murder/suicide thing. Terribly sad, I'm sorry it happened so close to you.

Frankly stuff like this pissed me off more then sadening.
More and more people are getting spoiled/ignored/treated so poorly or so popular/nicely
I seriously think that the whole Class/Status has a bigger impact on why these things are starting to happen more and more.
I myself, was nearly at a breaking point. I had actually walked into my Schools main office and stated that in all seriousness, that if shit wasn't fixed soon, that i wouldn't know if i would be able to hold myself back from killing someone. (snap)
Now i'm not defending what that idiot did, hell no, but i'd betcha that maybe out of all the pychos and maniacs running around today doing this terrible shit, that a small SMALL few actually are semi-sane people that have just been pushed way to far and have no other means of getting back up off the ground.
Geminiwave, hopefully you'll feel mountains better tomorrow and proceed to get better each passing day.

Yes i was at that point several years ago, (it's already been 7-8 years since? )
Considering my condition that i was in, my mother having recently been in a fairly incredibly bad accident and nearly killed, not to mention the number of other things and bullshit happening at the same time, when you've got other pupils and hell even school staff litterly picking on you for no reasons at all, oventually somethings got to give, and considering knowing that i never ever get violent or angry, (longest fuse known to man), that if i did oventually snap, i propably would have killed someone. Some people throw there fists around, but everyone should know exactly what it would take to snap someones neck or a good jab to the throat, and what it would do. I still today haven't a clue what i'd do, luckily i don't beleive i'm anywhere remotely close to the conditions i was in.

for you to say "have no other means of getting back up off the ground" or "Some people throw there fists around, but everyone should know exactly what it would take to snap someones neck or a good jab to the throat, and what it would do." in the context of killing someone is rather disturbing to be honest Vance.
I think all of us have had times in our life when we hit an all time low and get down or even depressed, however to say that killing someone might relieve this and you understand it in some way is... well.
I am not judging you, but I think for you to even say you in some way understand this means you really might need to think about getting help. If you were mentally healthy right now, you would know those were "wrong" feelings, but you still seem to be justifying it....
Anyway I think this conversion is a little insensitive to geminiwave who is obviously upset about this today, lets give him our support rather than discussing the merits of killing

You did that when you were like....14????
It seems that it is a good thing that I barely store any of the bad emotions inside me and I let them come out very fast. I'm violent and an egoist, and I love it!
Well, I guess I should stop jabbing people's throats now.

You'd be kidding yourself if you didn't think there was someone more threating then me around you or remotely anywhere close (specially in the city)...
I've no wish to intimidate or feeling threating to anyone, actually if you asked anyone probably around here, they'd say i'd never hurt a fly.... But the doesn't mean that i couldn't...

Oh no, I do think that there are more 'threatening' people that you around me...
...but I also think that none of them are any more threatening than myself!

no judgement taken
I have been for help, they couldn't diagnose me with anything. One of them figured i'd need something like "de-anger" management so that i could better express anger when it should be. Not sure.
I never said i'd take any satisfaction in killing anyone, that's a horrid thought. But it's a real concern that if i got angry enough, and felt threated enough, i'd take a life before i'd even think about taking the chance with mine.
Thinking more about it, consider that perhaps, you don't know your own strength at all, you don't know what your capable of doing at all, or how hard your hitting, or whatever, and in a moment of pure anger, enough that a voilent outburst occurs, wouldn't you be concerned that you may end up killing someone in the process without realizing what your doing, and what you had done after the fact?
Some people have experience with wrestling around, fighting a bit when there younger or when they get older, i've got ZERO, and i'm sure plenty of others have none at all either. If you've got no experience at all, could anyone honestly say that they'd know how/when to stop, or that they could control themselves?
sorry, that'll be all from me on this.
sorry for the hijacking.... didn't mean for it.
Be safe gemini

Perhaps you were misunderstanding my last post. I was politely asking for everyone to stop crapping in gemini's thread and to give the guy some support. if you want to discuss this (which you are entitled to) then please start another thread. I would delete these posts but I don't really believe in censorship (within limits).
How about we all think of Ben and the people in his university and maybe send him something positive in this thread, he is a good guy.

Thanks allan and Sandok.
and Judas, I got thrown around a lot at school from staff too. its why i quit until college. I'm glad you didnt snap. Not just for the sake of people atyour school but also for your sake.
anyway yea they still haven't gotten everyone out. Theres a ton of teachers and students that are refusing to come out of the classroom until they're promised that everythings okay and the police are still all around campus so they wont come out.
its kinda scary.
I dont know like it seems like everyone else is doing fine but I'm freaking out and im the only one. Obviously people in the building are freaking out but everyone outside that wasnt directly involved has shrugged it off already at least outwardly. Maybe they're also freaking out inside too.
whatever i just couldnt handle it. I skipped the rest of my classes and work today. I'm gunna go hang out with some family for awhile.

School shootings are always a very sensistive matter though my guess is it was motivated by a relationship between the victim and shooter so there probably wasn't any danger to bystanders.

I'm glad as well that at no time did i snap, i had tried to take leave from highschool due it all, but unfortuneatly that wasn't an option.
I wouldn't be to overly concerned about your well being and how other poeple seem to be taking it, while they may "seem" or say that they've shrugged it off, i think they'd be very much still shaken up. Course it all depends on the person, while one thing may be nearly intollerateable by one person, may be something completely different for another, and every bit of the spectrum between.
Take your time, as much as you can possibly take for you to get your barrings. And take confidence in the fact that tomorrow is a new day.

Omega, you are right it was a relationship thing. Shes been having issues with this guy for awhile and got a restraining order (I think that was in the paper). I guess a bunch of the people in my department have been worrying about her for awhile but I knew nothing about it. Then again I haven't really gotten integrated into the faculty very well until last quarter so thats understandable.
and yea Judas you're right i cant know whats going on inside of people. its just...uhg weird...
It really hit close to home how crazy stuff can just happen at a moments notice. Maybe i'll go see one of the councilors at the university or something tomorrow...its just gunna be hard to go back. Thats like..RIGHT next to my building i work in.

I suck at giving support. I am too cold hearted or something. So try to see this in a good way because I mean it that way.
Shit happens. Among that, crime, murders etc. It's sad that two people lost their lives. My guess is it was something from his childhood, built up till now, then feeling rejected (or whatever), snapped and did it. Apart from the two people, life goes on. You had nothing to do with the incident. The guy did not try to kill you. Two other human beings died. Accept it, don't think about it, just move on.
I don't know how old you are or how sensitive you are, but if you accept it I doubt you will have anything more than a bad dream about it.
You are not the one that died, or any of your loved ones, get over it soon.
If you are afraid that this could happen to you, well, it could happen to anyone on this planet. It's part of life. You don't (hopefuly) think all the time how you might get cancer and die, there is no reason to think that someone will try to kill you either.
If it comes, let it, if not, good, either way no reason to worry about something you can't change.
