Cave Story is one of the greatest freeware games of all time. And I do not say this lightly. It is probably in my top 5 games.

its a great game with a very indepth plot and multiple endings. you all should give it a whirl.

You can download for the the game S.W.I.N.E which is a very good single player RTS game. It is a retail game too. Just look at gamershell or the official developers' site.
