Most disturbing film ...... ever
Id like to hear what you guys think, and lets leave out the pron stuff and keep it semi respectible
i would say, it was a japanese film called "the audition" which veridian3 had me get and watch, and im sorry I did, I had a bad nights sleep. if you are going to get this movie, I suggest you dont read any spoilers and stick it out for the first hour, which is very slow paced. there is a reason its slow paced which I found out later

fucking great film ( and to think I almost got bored after 45 mins or so....)
edit: I remember watching Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer when i was quite young (like 7 or 8) , and that's a fairly disturbing film.
all of Joe Pesci's scenes from casino?

You saw it too? damn..... I can honestly say I dont think ive ever been as disturbed watching a film, and the first hour is so slow I almost said "f*&k this". It really had one hell of an ending and I hadn't read any spoilers on it which made it even worse/better.

yeah, I saw it a few years ago
went out of my way to watch as many eastern flicks as I could lay my hands on, that one definately sticks in the memory.
not disturbing in the sense that perhaps you mean, but definately disturbing in subject matter and fairly brutal content (and one of my favourite all time films) is Aguirre, the Wrath of God (Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes) by a certain mr Herzog is a must see

Thing is, I rarely find "gore films" scary, they are just dumb, with stupid plots which make them totally unbelievable. With "the audition" is really has a believable plot and apparently some of the things that happened in the film have been reported in crimes. There was a great webpage analysis of the film but I dont really want to post it incase people click it and ruin the film. ill pm you it.

That is feaking helarious Allen. As soon as I saw the name of the thread, I thought "what was the name of the Japanese, sado film... thats right "The Audition"". It is so f**cked up, its tough to talk about. Surprised someone else has seen it.

American Psycho is disturbing in the sense that you begin to wonder how many people you talk to on a daily basis are liek that
I pass on all the really gruesome ones, as I get squeemish during "torture films" like hostel and saw II...as I recall though, House of 1000 Corpses had one or 2 scenes in it that to this day make my skin crawl [like the old guy who peels the skin off the other guy's face and wears it like a mask]

Audition made me yelp at one point, not saying at what though as i dont want to spoil it for anyone... but yeah up there as one of the most disturbing.
I was also disturbed by the original chainsaw massacre film, some of the stuff the lead girl goes through is horrific and i just wanted her to die and be out of her misery by the end.
Event Horizon got in my head also, though a lot of people hate that movie (must be watched in the dark, late as poss and on your own for the best effect).
When i was younger, the poltergeist movies freaked me out...very disturbed by them because i watched them too young.
Exorcist doesnt scare/disturb me though, no idea why.

...oh, just remembered. There was this scene in a Jason movie i saw when i was 14 or so... this doctor guy picks up jasons, heart or brain (cant remember which, spent years blocking it out) and it starts pulsing.... he then bites into it.... makes me feel sick to this day so thats a disturbing scene. (movie was crap though).

Exorcist scared the hell out of me, as did Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original). I was probably all of 8 when I first saw them. Alien was another freaky one when I was a kid.
Who can forget the first time they saw Jaws... didn't even feel right to sit on a toilet for a while.

if you want to really be disturbed and outright go insane and demand your wasted life back,
find a movie called Jerry
i beleive that's the name, i never watched it, but i've a few friends that went a little insane over it and one of them is so utterly pissed off over the movie that when he really wants to put someone down, he calls them jerry or refers to things as jerry.
