![]() oh, i do have a question though. has any bike manufacturer ever decided to put/experiment [with] a rotary engine in a bike? and, if a rotary engine in a car can hit 9.5k RPMs, i'm guessing in a bike it would be easily able to top 20k RPMs

my guess, CDs, is that a rotary bike would do wierd things to the bikes balance, not to mention maintenance would be wicked

i still think if I were to buy a bike, it'd be one of THESE
Ducatti is beyond a doubt the lamborghini of motorcycles though....not necessarily the indisputable champion, but if you got one, people look, drool, give you their number, and want a ride. |

A daytona 650????? OMG dude, that particular model is one of the most average bikes ive ever ridden with shoddy build quality and one of the poorest mid ranges with sub standard fuel injection, typical british crap (no offense to british bikes, the new 675 is pretty sweet for a triple). Stick to cars PJ! and no Jeff im not going to even justify that last post with a response

This is the Daytona 675 which is their newest model, with a new revision of the larger CC bikes appearing sooner rather than later. As you can see from the above, triumph are really copying the japanese look by sharper, angular edges which is so in vogue in the UK atm (I think the UK rate no1 in europe for sports bike sales). You can probably see how design is going if you look at the one you liked - the 650 (650cc - yes they expanded it by 25cc to give it a bit more torque compared to the 600cc JAP inline 4's and it worked), which looked a lot fatter, heavier and basically bigger (this isnt a good thing for guys over 6ft as super sports bikes are getting smaller every bloody year). If you get a bike PJ, as much as I love italian and german bikes, I recommend you stick to japanese for the first few years as you are pretty much guaranteed reliability and performance then you can maybe branch out a bit more and expand your horizons by riding some twins, singles or even triples. I personally have a soft spot for twins, as they have so much character (even if they lack the outright power of an inline 4). Of course if you are one of the strict "buy only USA" type americans, you could try a harley or a buell (I quite like a few of the harley powered buells, they are really weird looking, and quite unique with loads of character). Whatever you buy just make sure you guys kit up right, get a good jacket, helmet and gloves. You can always replace a bike, but its harder to replace a set of teeth or a few fingers. |

I remember the old Indian Police motorcycle with a sidecar my uncle Roodie would resurrect out the hay barn and fire up once in awhile, seemed to take ages and he would just drink himself pissed and ride around the hay bales until he hit something...We forgot about it and it lingered on until they tore down the still in the barn. then we found it. My cousin pushed it up the creek to where all the old machinery rusted away under the cottonwood tree, but remember the seat had metal springs that perched it up above the frame, and the rims were spoked! It has a big motor and belched out blue smoke once in awhile. After Roodie died well we just let it go and some fella from Missoula saw it from the road while he was speculating on property and I guess he stold it or bought depending on who you believe and it sits in a display somewhere back east. I found out my Uncle Roodie had allegedly stole that from a fella that was courtin his girlfriend when they were both young..LOL. I think that is what makes motorcycles interesting to me.
I mean honestly Allan, I am sure you have some memories with your motorcycle that wont ever be forgotten..huh... Machines become animated if I own them for awhile, especially the ones with character. I am familiar with the Burt Monro story, and I sure like Anthony Hopkins, shoot a movie I havent seen. LOL I would love to see it myself, thanx for the tip Z...

heh, i'll be sticking to 4 wheels for the forseeable future.
However Allan, I'm curious as to what you think of the upcoming Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R...or whatever gay name they'll give it over in Euro-land [ninja is such a cool name too] |

![]() 197bhp (although its nearer to 170bhp at the wheel) - and accelerates like a mofo, although I think its slower from 0-60 than the BMW K1200S - Kawasaki actually deliberately made it a bit flat under 5000rpm. Nice bike but I really have gotten so used to shaft drive on those big hypersonic tourer jobs. Chains are fine on pure sports bikes but big tourers? all the miles and maintaining and adjusting chains is a pain in the ass. |
