Pepsi vs. Coca Cola
No, I'm not wanting to know your preferences.
What I'm writing about is to express my disgust with the insistence that employees of establishments that handle Pepsi products INSIST that customers ask for a cola by identifying the BRAND name.
I had a brief and unpleasant encounter with such an employee this evening.
After asking, along with my meal, for a 'diet coke' he INSISTED that I ask for DIET PEPSI by name or he would not provide me a beverage!
I told him that was being ridiculous and was about to walk out the door.
Since I've gone to this place to eat for more than a dozen years, I was thankful that the nice lady who has worked there for a long time stepped in and took over. She handled my order without further problems...EXCEPT that this shift manager was wanting to refuse to let me order!
I think it's going overboard to insist that brand names be spoken when everyone KNOWS what is meant.
Has this happened to anyone else?
If so, what was your reaction?

I hate it that all the movie theatres stock pepsi products only. I want a fucking root beer not a watered down pepsi.

because pepsi whores themselves with movie stars, therefore movie theatres find it more profitable to stock pepsi. do what we used to do, bring in a can or two of coke and buy popcorn. they dont destroy at the concession stands with a tall watered down pepsi.

that's fucking ridiculous, even more so that you're a long time customer
like a couple others mentioned, we sometimes get a murmured "pepsi ok?", but thankfully never experienced anything as crass as that. yet.

Well, this manager is fairly new. I plainly told him that I'd been eating there for many years and would be eating there LONG AFTER he was gone.
I also sent a complaint to the company WEB site feedback. It'll be interesting to see if I get a response.

yeah i never buy cocacola or pepsi when i go to the village cinema`s becuse they charge a bomb and its all watered down to hell and back, they allso fill your cup with that much ice that the ice alone takes up half your cup so watered down + more ice = water. lol its like your drinking 85% of water instead of pure cocacola hehe
thats why i always take 2 small bottles with me in my backpack

I think that there are a few establishments out there (Taco Bell comes to mind) that are partially or wholly owned by Pepsico. Probably got some gung-ho company man that took the management training he was given a tad too seriously.
I thought everything in Georgia was a "coke" though. Go to a bar and order a coke and they bring you Budweiser.

Pepsi sucks.
As for the employee who wanted to refuse your order, that's ridiculous. Good job somebody sensible was on-hand to sort things out.
