The components are so overpriced! 70 pounds for 512MB of RAM (it does get cheaper if you take a vast amount), or 240 pounds to switch from 6600 256MB to 7600GT, when the 7600GT alone is much cheaper than that!
If you want a powerful computer, here's one much cheaper (about $16,500):
Orion Multisystems DT-12S-005
12 x86 processors starting at 1.2 GHz
1GB memory per node, 12GB total
1 80GB head node drive
11 80GB client disks (960GB of total system storage!)

oh no i didn't , that's what I use now (long time out of school)
tried cubase, but logic always seems to be more intuative (familiarity breeds....)
