6800GT or wait?

Hiya, i've currently got an ATI 9800 which has given me nothing but trouble and wanted to switch over to nVidia. As I can only use AGP the 6800GT seems like the best card at the moment but with the Geforce 7 series starting to appear are they likely to release these for AGP? Any advice? Thanks

I've mostly given up playing games on my PC because it constantly crashes and all error reports point to the graphics card driver, the annoying thing is that a game could last four hours before it crashes or two minutes but it will always crash eventually plus it only ever crashes during games never any other time. I've tried every driver possible and just can't be bothered messing about with it anymore.
At first i thought it may be caused by over heating so i installed loads of cooling, didn't work then maybe i needed a more powerful power supply so i installed a 480W, no difference. All my previous card were nVidia and i never had a single problem with them so i thought i'd go back, maybe i've just got a defective card or something but it hasn't exactly made me an ATI lover

I wouldn't wait for r520 or get a 7800 unless you have a big money tree in your yard...
The 6800GT is a good mid-end choice at the moment since the prices are dropping, I've seen one for 240,- which is pretty nice bang for the buck if you ask me...

i agree with prelude. whenever the r520 does come out it wil be pricy. the 7800 is just to expensive. 6800gt gives great performance, most quality ones can be ocd to ultra speeds with little to no hassle & you ahve some future proofing with it. i have one & have no intention of buying another vid card for a couple of years.
even though you are unhappy with ati i would also consider x880xl from a mainstream manafacturer.

Where I am looking for one also, and the best I have seen is a 256mb XFX 6800GT for 280 or so. at newegg

Since there is no PCI-E 9800's.

Nvidia
1. 6800GT
2. 6600GT

ATI
1. x800xt
2. x800xl
3. x700 Pro

The 7800GTX will only be PCI-E part, and the R520 wil not be out for a few more months, and the AGP version (if there will be) about 5 months after that.

I'm not a fanboy but I have almost always had nVIDIA cards.Dont get me wrong,ATI makes a great card! But nVIDIA has almost always had the lead in video cards and more than likely always will.Yes,they got cought with there pants down 1 time with the 9800 series. But have ALWAYS countered in a matter of weeks. You gotta realize this. It's about $$$$$!!!!But I will go with nVIDIA 90 percent of the time.

if you do not want to spend money on upgrading your whole rig and going PCI-E and whatnot, get the 6800GT AGP card. Best bang for the buck. and like previously stated, it does have some futureproof going with it as far as game features go along.
