Nvidia lost the plot?
Well ill not go into specifics but ive a friend who works for a large corporation and it looks like nvidia are only going to be supporting the GT cards in the future.
6800 would be replaced by the 7800GTX as soon as the first ASICs were sat in their PCBs
i.e. a single 7800 GTX card goes in a retail box and the production line for 6800 Ultra cards stops immediately
Ill copy some text from a conversation I had with him (and this isnt made up).
Q: "Will customers who buy an SLi board now with a single 6800 card be unable to upgrade once the 7800 GTX is out ?"
A: "nVidia will continue to make 6800GT cards available for some time to come - our customers need not worry"
The reply was specific - GT only

i think we will have to wait for something more 'official'. seems like some of this might be out of context &/or miscommunication.
does not make much sense on a lot of levels. the main factor that makes me doubt it is that the the only difference between gt & ultra parts is speed binning. ultra quality parts are still going to be coming out of their production line, what is going to happen to them? you think they are going to sell them off has lower priced gt parts(would be cool )?
would also be a bad pr move on their part seeing as how sli is only just starting to take off. you got to wonder how many single ultras there are out there in a sli capable setup.
anybody know the timeline on 7800 gtx?

This is apparently being circulated by Nvidia.
It still amazes me companies of this caliber still decide to put out this immature "bashing" Material.

IF nvidia is circulating that it is tacky. & while being inappropriate under any circumstances, if even 1/2 of it is true then the consumer is getting info they need. i really do not have much concern about the benchmark claims, we all know both companies have issues there as far as pointing fingers & making 'claims'. my concern(if i really had one) would be with the hardware/platform claims.
be interesting to see how this all 'spins' out.

I didnt find it, it was shown to me behind closed doors by a company executive. No big deal really, its happened before, just quite funny, while being silly.

That PDF was funny I can't believe I can get paid to bash the competition!
We'll have to see how this CrossFire does in the hands of consumers.
