nvidia nview enabled - performance decrease?

So, just got a new xfx 6600gt agp, and things are going great. This is such a vast improvement over the 9700 Pro. I got 8200 in 3Dmark 2003, and 55fps on Doom3 timedemo1. However, I have a multimonitor setup, and when I enable the second monitor, it automatically uses nview. This would be fine, because it has a nice interface, but my bench in Doom3 drops to 33fps with nview enabled. That's almost a 50% drop in performance, even though the card is basically doing nothing to output to the second screen during the game.

Anybody know why this is, and if there's a way to fix it but still use the multimonitor setup? I never noticed this problem with the ATI card, because I didn't have hydravision installed.
