Iridium is on a distinguished road

The write up at Tom's said it will be sold in combination with their GA-K8NXP-SLI motherboard for less than the current price of the X850 XT-PE and 6800 Ultra...by themselves.

Won't be true 256bit either, 128bit x 2 .... just as each core has acess to 128bit of 128mb gddr3 memory

(but as far as i under stand it still can be whipped by a x800xt pe overclocked
just as two sli 6800 ultras are.... (beaten an some cases by a x800xt stock)

but the price might be good....

The SLI killer being ATI hold the patents to "AFR" thats the mode every one is raveing about in nvidia's sli drivers

Nice too see gigbyte useing there heads were nvidia clearly didn't

Default Post Gigabyte creates dual-GPU graphics card

Chicago (IL) - Gigabyte will announce Friday a graphics card running two graphics processors on one board. According to sources, the SLI card will lift current 3DMark2003 record levels by a significant margin while being priced lower than ATI's and Nvidia's single-GPU high-end cards.

If two graphics cards in one system are too expensive or simply not fast enough, Gigabyte's new 3D1 board may be worth a serious look. Sources told Tom's Hardware Guide, that the company prepares to launch a dual-GPU card Friday, saying that it will "revise the VGA performance ranking".

The card integrates two Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT graphics processors and is the first 6600 GT card on the market to offer a total of 256 MByte DDR 3 memory and 256 Mbit of memory bandwidth, according to the manufacturer. The card is cooled by two on-board fans.

The 3D1's two processors communicate through Nvidia's SLI interface and achieved 14,293 points in 3DMark2003, sources at Gigabyte said. This would not only be almost twice the performance of a regular 6600 GT card, but also more than ATI's Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition, which achieved in Gigabyte's test environment 13,271 points and Nvidia's GeForce 6800 Ultra, which posted 12,680 points.

Nice!

Too bad I don't ever want to own an Nvidia again
Hopefully ATI's dual GPU solution also has a reasonable price!

Very interesting I say. Although I dont see an SLI Connector on top so it doesnt look like you can run two of these in the same machine. I also would home drivers will do well for this thing.

Boring

two gpu's on one card, so they share memory and bandwidth, when u have two seperate graphical boards, they have their own memory and bandwidth
Don't think it can be run very well
So we can just wait and see

You don't under stand let my try to clue you in......

Each GPU has it own seprate resources and memory..
each core has 128bit 128mb GDDR3 ... all to it self

Both GPU's are on one card insted of two wich cut the price dramically
roughy 1/2 the price of two cards and SLI

also In SLI both cards are limited to only PCI 8x!
So you have two handy capped cards working togeather

this single card could use PCIe 16x or even thier planned 20X
