exclamation SLI mode x8 x8 ?!

I was waiting for the nforce4 boards to come out and ASUS have the specs up for their upcoming A8N SLI-Deluxe and it says SLI mode for dual PCI-E cards is x8 x8! Can anyone explain why it is this way? I am so very dissapointed.

if you use 1 card (non - SLI ) you use the full x16 speed of the PCI-E bus, when you use 2 cards ( SLI ) those 2 cards have to share the full x16 speed of the PCI-E bus together, so each card gets x8 speed.
