Help Me Please
I have a problem with my new computer that I just built. Here is all its components.
P4-3GHz. Prescott
1GB PC3200 Corsair VS CAS2.5
Mobo SOYO i865PE (Prescott ready)
GF4 Ti4200
Powersupply 380W
And this is the problem that I have experienced. My computer works perfectly until I launch the 3D program such as games and 3dmark. there are a lot of stripe and intermittent black screen when i run 3D applications. However, When i put GF2MX into my new computer, Everything works perfectly. I tried to put the GF4Ti4200 into the old computer that i have and It works fine without any problem. (That means GF4Ti4200 is not broken). So, would u tell me what is going on with my new PC? I really appreciated your help.
PS: I suspects the power supply coz i heard that prescott eat a lot of power but with the 380W power supply my friend said it is unlikely.

Yes the power supply might be the problem. Is it a generic PSU?
Other than that, maybe you have a bad (corrupted) installation of the graphic drivers. But this is less likely.

Ummmmm... I'd have to ask, not being familar with the Nvidia design, but does it have require power connecting to the card like the Radeon's?
My guess is the PSU is the issue. Pull out sound card and any other PCI devices and boot the PC up. Also make sure that the BIOS settings are setup with the correct Vcore voltage for the CPU.

Does your system actually crash and require a reboot, when the stripes and black screens occur or does it correct itself in a short time??

MY com
Thank you all for posting a reply to my problem. My VGA doesn't need an external power connector and it finished the 3dmark01se test but have serious artifacts as I told u before. I ran sisoftsandra and it said that my vga has a problem with AGP. I guess i might have to update BIOS. I will do it asap and if it doesn't help, I may have to ask u guy again. Again Thank you very much.

No problem, make sure your motherboard supports the AGP rate of the card u are using, eg if Card is AGPx8 then motherboard must be able to run AGPx8
hope u get it fixed.

Well you should uninstall all the drivers, use DH Driver cleaner im safe mode, also use the cab cleaner and let it run, it takes a while.
The reinstall the drivers. I bet it will work then.

That's simply untrue...I've been running 8x cards in a 4x bus for about 2 years now. I have a feeling that the PSU (probably generic) isn't good enough. 380W of generic is about 240W of a good brand. It also *could* be heat...is the fan on the cooler running?

Do you have all the necessary drivers (i.e., Video, sound, chipset...)?? One missing driver for one component can sometimes screw things up for others. Also, you might want to try disabling fastwrites or lowering the AGP bus speed to 4x.

Finally
Thank you all for posting the solutions. Finally I figure it out what went wrong. I went to hardware shop and change several Video cards to my com, they work just fine. However, My 4Ti is still producing artifact on my com but when i put it into other computers, there is no problem at all. So the hardware store owners told me that this sometimes happen coz it is a compatibility issue. I know it may sound like a blunt answer to u guy. But it is really an answer to my problem. again thank you guy.
