Yes it's going to be worth it, what is your system specs??

I came from an ATI 9800 Pro to a Gainward 6800 GT GS, and it has more than doubled my performance.

Gainward is a good card. I was going back in forth between the gainward and the XFX 6800GT. They are both great cards. I ended up getting the XFX only cause free shipping! I went from a 9800XT which is a great card in it's own right. But the 6800GT is even sweeter! The Gainward is a solid card!

Well if you haven't done so yet, get the 6800GT. It really does make a huge difference. You might consider selling the 9700 off too, when I upgraded I sold off my old system for $800 with a new hard drive. Even though I doubt you want to sell your PC off, I still suggest you sell the card and get some extra cash...it may make the difference between a GT and a Ultra...

Just a thought, that's all...

System Specs

yah, i was worried that you would be bottlenecked by your system, but with a system that good you will see a world of a differance.

If I'm not mistaken the in game FPS on D3 is capped at 60. But Fraps will go higher. So using Fraps it will go above 60. I hit in the 80's with Fraps in D3. I'm sure I could get higher with tweaks but it already looks and plays incredible.

System Specs

to play D3 at ultra specs you want at least 2GB of ram. as far as very high with no drops in framerate, i can't say because i've never played the game, but you'll definately get a good FPS at very high at 1280x1024

A gig is just fine, there is no reason for two now. You need to set the AGP Archipecture to 256MB which will be used by the system. Say some background items take 256MB. The OS take 128mb, and now the game take 400MB. 256+256+400+128=1040 under extreme situations (excessive background items, and Doom 3 was high since it only uses about 350MB).

A gig does just fine...

here are some benchies for ya ^_-
