What is a good PCI card to get?

Hello,
i do NOT wish to updgrade my Motherboard just for a agp slot since my motherboard is a serverboard. I just want to know what PCI card would be best for games and etc?

Should i get this video card?
http://www.chaintechusa.com/tw/eng/p...o=14&PISNo=201

or this one

http://www.gecube.com/mbu/productCategory.php?proID=58

I recently brought a Gecube Radeon 9200SE 128mb PCI card
and did not like it cause whenever i play games the texture flickers like the graphics and etc.
Here is a link to the features of the Radeon 9200SE 128mb PCI card
http://www.gecube.com/mbu/productCategory.php?proID=11

Would a FX5200 be good for a PCI card or the Radeon 9250?? I am thinking of buying the 256MB version of the card isntead of 128 mbs. I compared the AGP version of this card and its no difference except that AGP is alot faster speed then pci, or could anyone suggest another graphics card?

My computer features are :

Matched PAIR, INTEL P4 XEON 2.8 gigz 512kb 533fsb, SL6VN
Tyan Tiger GC-SL (S2727)
INFINEON 1024MB DDR REGISTERED ECC RAM
400 W PSU

the 9250 is probably a better bet, but neither of the cards is too fantastic and wont be able to play newer games on anything other than low at very low resolution

and what would be a low resolution??
640 x 400?
Also if i get a FX5200 or a Radeon 9250 would there be any flickering textures with any games with 3d graphics?
as i have being having that problem with the radeon 9200SE thats why i want to change pci cards to a FX5200, If this motherboard supported agp or pci-e i would of got those type of cards so i need a PCI card.

For the 9250, you should be looking at the 128 bit model
http://www.gecube.com/mbu/productCategory.php?proID=54

If you're looking at the Nvidia range, how about this:
http://www.ocie.com/metacart/product.asp?intProdID=371 - a 5600 in PCI - Now has anybody topped this in PCI?
http://www.amamax.com/ge56pciwddrd.html - another

I'd verify that they really are PCI before attempting to order, as I've seen some that describe them as AGP.

The FX5200 is a lightweight, and relies rather too much om host CPU assistance (the vertex shaders are software, only the pixel shaders are hardware, because they can't be done in software) - the FX5600 is not just faster, but has a better GPU than the 5200.

So if i want a good pci card i should go for the FX5600??
how about the NVIDIA® GeForce4™ MX440-8X, 64/128MB DDR SDRAM?

http://www.chaintechusa.com/tw/eng/p...o=14&PISNo=200

seems to look better then the FX5600....

System Specs

The Geforce 4 MX is a DirectX 7 hardware card, the FX is a DirectX 9 hardware card - the ATI 9250 is a DirectX 8 hardware card

The Radeon 9200SE is also DirectX 8 hardware, but is a crippled version of a bottom-end card, and unless DX8 features are critical, a good DirectX 7 card can wipe the floor with it - and where DX8 features ARE critical, it will never be fast enough to do them justice (very much the same position as the FX5200, the bottom-end DX9 card and Nvidia chipset).

Just depends how much you want to spend, while painting yourself into a corner.

there was a limited number of 9800PRO PCI editions out on the market. Most are gone, but if you could find one, that would be an interesting card.

The FX5200 is a waste of space
http://graphics.tomshardware.com/gra...charts-09.html - Bottom of the barrel DX9 performance, and on some of the other tests there, only just above, level with, or even below the better DX7 hardware solutions.

Unless the price is too high, the FX5600 is probably the best Nvidia solution that you'll find in PCI - and still not really suitable to carry forward (though anyone upgrading to PCI Express would suffer their AGP card being a dead end as well).

Since it looks like the rest of your system is a spec you'll keep for some time, if you want a games card, aim to put the best one possible on there.

Not sure that DX9 hardware (pixel shader 2.0) support is critical yet, or will be for some time.

The 9800Pro PCI sounds like a dream ticket to performance, but a nightmare for price.

well also what you have to consider is that at some point, it doesnt matter what chip you put in, it'll run just the same because of the terrible bottleneck that is PCI. I doubt that putting a 5600 will do ANYTHING better than a 5200 for PCI. I'm gunna go look up benchies right now, but im saying that PCI is pretty weak to begin with.

nah I only very rarely see it. Next time it pops up though I'll post it on DH. Usually places like newegg or bestbuy get one.
