6800 gt glitches problem

hi all!

got my 6800 gt just today and after installing it all, i got glitches in all games i tested so far. objects render cubes around them, where they are not supposed to be, in for example tony hawk underground 2. and the imps in doom3 for example are very .... well they have a lot of edges they didnt have before with my geforce3 card. dont know exactly what this is called. but it seems they use way less cubes ... or what the models are made of ... then they are supposed to use. overall graphic in doom3 looks crap aswell compared to my old card or compared to screenshots (tho the fps went up, as expected).

when i click on the little taskbar thing from nvidia or use the nvidia tab in the graphic menu to change settings, my screen goes black for 1-2 seconds ... thats new to me aswell. geforce3 didnt do that either.

edit: btw, temperature seems very low at 58 ... what ever unit it is. C i guess? tells me the critical temperature would be 120

drivers ive tried so far are the current official drivers (61.77 i belive) and the latest beta drivers (66.81 i think).

the card im using is a 6800gt from point of view. dont know atm what gfx bios the card is running on. trying to find that out atm.

might that be the result of using a 300w power supply? the box tells me the 6800 and 6800gt work with 300w and only the ultra would need at least 350? or is the problem more likely something else?

in advance thanks for any possible support,
Rampino

You either have a Bad Card and need to RMA it. Or something is conflicting.

Maybe you need to check you have DirectX 9.0c and I would be going for a Fresh format and reinstalling the 61.77 Drivers from the Nvidia site. Windows update and XP2 is always going to help too.

I havent had any issues with my 6800, something is ruining yours.

what was your old card? did you completely uninstall the old drivers? try drivercleaner: http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/

I've had some funky issues switching from ati to nvidia cards and vice versa. DC seemed to fix it.

power requirements 300w or higher. have you got a generic psu or a branded? youll need a good brand, say antec 300w or a 350w to 400w generic psu to run that beast. its like the minimun requirements of a pc game the lower it is the more they can sell. if you got a generic psu, ditch it and get antec truepower 330w or higher. ive seen a generic psu melt a m/b and cpu
