Anyone thats been inside a BFG 6800gt ?

I've got a 6800gt oc from BFG. The thing has some problems and has hit temps as high as 110c, normally under load it rests at 90-92c. I'm fairly sure I'm going to return it for a different one but I've looked downs the sides and I can see the thermal tape isn't covering the whole GPU and it's not totally on the ram either. Does anyone know if I open it up and just move the tape around if BFG would be able to tell or if I should even bother? Isn’t the thermal tape one use only? I've got some artic silver5 but I think they would be able to notice if I used it and then put the tape back on if I have to RMA it. Also that thermal tape is thick, if I took it off and replaced it with artic silver5 will the HS lay flat with less space in there? Any advice?

You shouldnt have to do either of those to RMA it. clearly they messed up in the construction/assembly of the card, and you shouldnt have to take one that they screwed up...just write them a letter with your RMA and state that it was like that when you got it, and you dont want a card thats been running at those temps due to damage.

you should be idling in the low 50s. If you mess with the card, they might not take it back. Don't screw with it. Just request an RMA.

Got the same card, and I'm at 59°C Idle. Don't touch the card, just request an RMA.

yeah, dude request an RMA, especially with BFG's warranty policy, that's nothing to mess a card around with.
