MSI NX6800 Bios Flashing to GT
Can I Flash My Bios to the 6800 GT?
How to do this ?,and where can i find these Bioses?
I want to open the the 12 pipelines to 16 pipelines with rivatuner 15.2
with the standard bios it gives distortions on my screen.
And what is the command line to flash the GT bios into Standard NX Bios?
I Use nvFlash.
BTW can i open these Pipelines when i flash into the GT Bios
without distortion on the screen?
Whats the recommend PSU requirement on a ASus P4C800 2.6 HT @3.12
Ghz And this card ,my PSU is now 350 W to get the max out my PC?
A lot of questions but....i am leaning to configure my computer to the max
Thanks in advanced for the comments on this thread.
Greetings ZeroOne

It sounds to me as though the 4 disabled pipelines that you are trying to open are damaged. if it works fine with rivatuner then people flash the bios so that the change is permanent (i think that some modding on the board soldering contacts is sometimes needed too), but if it doesnt then sounds like you're best off leaving your card as it is. its still early days in trying to mod these new cards, so you may find that once more has been done you'll be able to try a newer version of rivatuner that will work (if its a problem with rivatuner rather than damaged pipes), but if you want more performance, i suggest sticking to gentle overclocking for now - i mean your card will play all current games (and future games im sure) nicely, and your cant have had it long, why risk damaging it?
if you are really interested, i saw someone post this link a week or two ago
http://www.pcunleash.com/bbs/zboard...temReview&no=39
sounds way too scary to me though, have to be amazing to solder tiny resistors on a graphics card
oh, psu, ratings can be misleading. is your 350W made by a good company (enermax, zalman, globalwin, vantec, antec, thermaltake etc) or is it a generic one? a good make one will be fine, generic may be ok, try this web page out http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/
a better psu wont improve your frame rate or make your computer quicker, but if you are getting random crashes and instability and cant work out whats causing it, then an underpowered psu could be the cause

I agree that you probably have 4 damaged pipelines. Flashing to a GT bios will not repair them.
just fyi, the proper command for nvflash should be:
nvflash XXXXX.rom
make sure to create a backup of your bios before you flash in a new one!

zeroone, ive been reading a little bit about this in the forums @ guru3d, this thread here should be of interest http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread....0&pagenumber=1
obviosuly its massive so dont bother to read it all! what i suggest is that you may be able to unlock a vertex pipeline and not the 4 pixel pipes or perhaps 4 pixel pipes and not the vertex one, and get a performance increase with no artifacts, depends on exactly whats damaged. im not sure about how this all works as i dont have a 6800 to try it out on, but since this seems fairly succesfful, i may conisider a 6800le (8 pixel pipes), which are about £150 here in the UK and see if i can unlock any of the remaining 8 pipes

Thanks guys for the replies, i stick with my original bios, after reading the links u
gave me .
And leave what it is i don't dare to flash my bios to a GT.
I'v overclockd the ram @990 MHZ and the Core @ 590mhz this gives me
the satisfaction i need, i Mounted an extra cooling sink, (the stock sink from my original p4 cooling box, i use a Zalman Cooler for the P4).
And build an 120MM Fan on the left side of my Case.
And it works like a charm, Far cry Run on Highest setting now without stuttering or mouse lag.

BTW Is my PSU 350 W strong enough for this system ,a 2.6 ht @3.12 Ghz and the MSI NX6800 card ??.
Do i need more power then 350 W i have now?
Is it better to build in a Zalman 450 W Psu to get out the most out my system?
Thanks in advanced.
plz ventilate your opinion about the PSU

Your PSU is 350W or "350W"?
As far as I know, unlocking pipes on 6800 cards is not possible. They're there...but really damaged.
I wouldn't try flashing...

Maybe I've said it wrong. You can do it, of course...but they're damaged. Even with this "risk"...he can try!
PD: I know about RT, already used it with my ex-vga: ATI 9500NP @ 9700, my first SoftMod :P
