I wouldnt order a leadtek board after my friend went through some problems with them in the past and he was treated like a piece of dirt both by the company who sold him it and leadtek themselves. the only company with worse support than leadtek IMO are gainward.

how do these companies keep doing competetive business?

well I deal with a lot of companies but im looking at it from the customer viewpoint. Gainward make great boards but their support staff and the people ive dealt with are appalling. My friend's experience with leadtek went back to the 4600 days and his card was dead on arrival. It took him 4 weeks to get a replacement as they virtually accused him of killing the card when he opened the box.

Well I hope I don't have to deal with Gainward directly then, but I don't think so as I bought my card in a store.
This is my first Gainward card and so far I'm more than impressed regarding the perfomance, overclocking and the stability. Many Ultras can't even reach the speeds I can and thats a good sign I think.
I hope you will solve the problem Mike.

the ultra is a little out of my price range. after spending $$$ on video card, 64 raptor, 160 'cuda, another 512 ocz 4000 ram & various case upgrade/modding supplies my wife would throttle me if i spent another cent probably be justified too!
the thing i like about leadtek is their cooling solution. you just do not hear it & it is very efficent-65c under load. which also makes my lack of an overclock-360/965 ridiculous imo.
it will be solved one way or the other next week. i want some accountability from leadtek.

the only other leadtek board i know of was the guy that posted his OC results on here. the thread was titled "pushing the 6800GT" or something. he had some insane overclock on it...i think around 430...but maybe higher. Like you said, it is because of that awesome hs/f combo they have on there. it is all copper isnt it?

On another note.
Abit makes wonderful products, but the distributor who provides customer support does a very poor job. Makes you wonder why Asus is the No.1 seller in computer components-->Because they make quality products and good reliable customer support!

Hello,
I have advice for mike2H. Most resellers, and definately ones with bad ratings as pricewatch shows, are legal cowards. If you have a reciept that shows 6800GT and no lite or listed speeds, they have about 0 grounds. Call up your credit card if it's within a month and say they pulled fraud and you want a refund. Also have them respond to the company that it is being shipped back. Now just insure the package with the slowest mailing style possible. Problem solved, and most internet companies not only know they would lose in court, but would cost them more to go after you. Then, it becomes GameVE's fight with Leadtek.
I learned that trick from my dad when I had to fight with customer support. He finally took over, and funny enough we got every cent back minus $10, which is nothing when you think about what it could have been.
Also, why not just go to say a CompUSA or BB and grab either a BFG or a PNY. PNY used to have a fricked up warranty, but decided to fix it with a 3yr, not to bad when you consider how soon you'll have to upgrade. Then you have BFG with a lifetime and are know to be OC monsters....although I can still match them with PNY.

that is good info. thx!
main problem is i want either a gainward or leadtek card. if i got the bfg - wich is not even in stock as of yesterday- i would want the nv silencer for it which would mean ponying uo another $30. it is a solution i have considered. & still am.
i do not have a replacement card at this time. so with bb being the ONLY option in town(circuit city is here but IF they have anything it is way overpriced.) i am pretty much limited to the wait time of the internet. guess it sucks to be me .

from what leadtek tells me all their gt's out there are lite vers. thats all they have been shipping for the past couple of weeks.
of course i only found ONE site that actually says their vers is 'lite'...
if i can get this worked out today/tomorrow then fine. otherwise i am looking into other options.

Yeah at this point I would tell them to give you every penny back including shipping and report them to the BBB. I would also threaten them with that if they give you a hard time, then after you get your money back report them anyway. But of course they strung you along so long you might find that they have some small print saying they don't have t give you your money back after 7 days or some BS...
I would get your money back and forget about them.

That is soo lame-- Imagine how many people they are ripping off... Just like that deal with that 9700pro I bought a long time ago- they flat out lied and told me I was getting one thing, then gave me some cheap ass under-clocked knock-off.. What a bunch of BS.
And I don't believe for a second they didn't know, bla bla bla.. They know EXACTLY what they are doing and should be slapped with a class action lawsuit. F Leadtech and GameVE - I'll never buy from either again in my life.

update:
as of today, 10 days after my initial contact with them, leadtek 'thinks' there is a shipment on its way from taiwan. wont know 'till monday. i wrote them an email expressing my thoughts on their fraudulent activity & their lack of customer support.
i have been seeing the same problem popping up around the internet. got to wonder how many of these cards are out there.
called gameve & told them i was no longer waiting on leadtek & wanted another card. asked me which one & told him i wanted the new giabyte with the heatpipe/fan combo. it will be shipped either today or monday. they are of course paying all shipping costs. though a little slow they care taking care of business.
anyway my experience with leadtek has pretty much sucked. & they are still selling these cards at reg gt prices!

You should have probably kicked up a class action lawsuit, but as long as you get a different card and at the same cost there shouldn't be any problems...

Yeah as long as they are giving you another card, they are doing what they should do- I agree it took to long, but if they do the right thing, that is a good sign.

MAJOR RIPOFF at Gameve
OMG I got ripped off too, but this was worse. I ordered an XT PE and they sent me an X800 pro that had been BIOS flashed and remarked! There were 3 different product ID numbers on the card and the label on the box was ripped off to hide the serial number and product ID of he boxed item, wherever that went. I sent them a very nasty letter!
I am extremly angry about the blatant theft that has been perpetrated against me. Originally, I was impressed with the quick service and prompt shipping of demonstrated by your firm, but upon inspection of the item I have discovered that it is not what was represented to me prior to the sale. I have determined that the item you sold to me is a lower-valued product that has been purposefully altered to simulate a more expensive model.
Simple visual inspection reveals alteration of/addition to the original labels to make it appear that this graphics adapter is the advertised product. Information on the packaging that would reveal this disparity has been removed. i.e. the serial number, product ID number, etc.
Closer investigation via hardware analysis reveals that the bios contained the the product's ROM does not match the product ID, subsystem code, nor vendor code as displayed on both printed labels and markings hard-etched into the PCB of the item. As I noted earlier, the packinging itself has been intentionally damaged to prevent this comparison. Furthermore, the programming information stored in the card's BIOS is from a different manufacturer entirely. This proves that the original product has been INTENTIONALLY altered to appear as the higher-priced X800XT PE rather than the X800 "Pro" that it is. Rest assured, I have further proof that this is the case as well.
Please contact me immediately to rectify this situation. I would hope that you are interested in preventing this kind of fraud amongst your suppliers. In any case, I expect this problem to be resolved without the necessity of my first returning the item in question- I do not intend to release this evidence until I am fully reimbursed monetarily, by the genuine product as promised to me by your firm, or the equivalent product made by another manufacturer. I placed my trust in you, and bargained in good faith. It is only right that you do the same for me.
However, if I do not obtain the remedy as just outlined within a reasonable period of days hence, I shall contact authorities to begin investigation of this incident. As I'm sure you know, the this type of offense when pursued across state lines and/or through interstate communications is a federal offense. Regardless of your firm's culpability or innocence, I am sure you want to avoid the negative impact an FBI investigation would have on your business and personal dealings. This situation must be rectified without delay and to my full satisfaction. Please contact me now.
