First Few 6600 and 6600GT Out Now

Maybe this is old news, but hopefully its new to somebody.

After searching for these for a while, I found a few 6600 and 6600 GT cards at one site.
The cards are at http://www.gameve.com

I think that they are all PCI Express, which is a disappointment for me, because I want to get one for AGP.

Out As Of Today:
XFX Geforce 6600 128MB PCI EXPRESS W/DVI, TVO
http://www.gameve.com/gve/Store/Prod...sku=VC-XFX-030
XFX GeFORCE 6600 256MB PCI EXPRESS W/DVI TVO
http://www.gameve.com/gve/Store/Prod...sku=VC-XFX-031

Coming 9/28/2004:
AOPEN AEOLUS 6600 256MB
http://www.gameve.com/gve/Store/Prod...u=vc-aopen-028

Coming 9/29/2004:
SPARKLE GeFORCE PCX 6600 PCI EXPRESS 128MB:
http://www.gameve.com/gve/store/Prod...VC-SPARKLE-004
SPARKLE GeFORCE PCX 6600 PCI EXPRESS 256MB:
http://www.gameve.com/gve/store/Prod...VC-SPARKLE-005
SPARKLE GEFORCE PCX 6600 GT 128MB PCI EXPRESS
http://www.gameve.com/gve/store/Prod...VC-SPARKLE-006

Anybody seen them anywhere else? Or know if PCI Express is backwards compatible with AGP on these cards? I seem to remember reading something about that.

PCIX is not backwards compatible...and i believe they're only PCIX for the time being. If you're looking for AGP, i dont see why you wouldnt just get a 6800 anyways...

oh i must have misread the article about them being backwards compatible with agp.
i guess what is really going on is that there is a bridge of some sort that makes it possible to create an agp version. thats good to hear!

what you're referring to as the "bridge" is actually on the die of the chips...so its not something you can buy and stick on...

the NV45s, or the 6800 series, are actually PCIX chips that are bridged to AGP. The NV40s (6600) are actually AGP chips bridged to PCIX. funny how that works isnt it?
