Thumbs Up! Finally bought my 6800 GT

Yes I did it now, not the one I had in mind but still, the one I buyed was the Gainward Golden sample, this baybe is @ 400/1100 from the very beginning. The only downside to this is the jet engine sound effect it produces when getting hotter, it has twin 60 mm fans and copper cooling and takes up 2 slots. Perhaps I'm going to change the cooling solution one day.

The performance is top notch, I did a few benchies and my new 3D mark03 score is 12000 (before 6100) my Aquamark score is 58300 (before 41000). So I'm quite happy, now I just got to get used to the driver updates not coming each month as ATI.

Here are some pictures;
Btw, is it better for me to move the harddrive so that its cables don't touch the PCB on the card??

Looking sweet Danhill!!, i can't wait until mine gets here.
And it shouldn't matter if those sata cables touches the pcb....but if you're not feeling comfortable with it, its easy enough to move the hdd's

Thanks. I'm very happy with the card so far, I couldn't belive my eyes whe I saw the mother nature test in 3d markd 03 going at nearly 215 fps at the very begining.

Thanks, yes it went very well thanks to your advice, I reinstalled the chipset drivers but couldn't reinstall dx 9.0c, it did the update too fast sort of speak. And the driver install went well.

I'm very happy at the moment.

A strange thing though, after benching and I look at the results the Clock of the card shows up as 3 khz and 5 mhz in 3Dmark03 same for aquamark.

The card is at default speed 400/1100

I wouldn't worry, it's propably just a bug in the programs...i know that 3dmark recognized my barton 2500 clocked at 2.5ghz as a duron..

glad to see you're impressed......no problem with the advice.i would not worry about those few mhz difference's on the benchies to much.all software is not 100% accurate.

have you tried it out gamewise yet.

I think this is normal. It shows 11.8 Mhz memory and 1.1 MHZ Core at my system. its clocked at 380/1060

Not really yet, but I'm installing Flight Simulator 2004 right now. Soon I'm installing D3 to see what fuzz is all about (perfomance wise)

To be honest? I like it, it's pretty sweet. My 9700 pro recently died so I bought an X800 pro to replace it (I panicked. ) and I've only had the X800 for a few weeks and Gainward was nice enough to send me out this 6800 to play with. So far it's at least on par with my X800 pro, but I haven't really had a whole lot of time to play with it yet since I've only had it for two days and my kids have been sick both days. (Kids come first, it's a weird rule of mine)

I plan to bench the bejeebus out of it this week and next, I gotta send it back by about the 25th. I want to get a review out of it by then so I'll tell you more later.

The big thing for me with it was to see how its image quality was since I bought a 5900 FX to see the AA and I was NOT impressed, but this 6800's AA is pretty damned close to ATi's....more than acceptable, it looks nice.

I couldn't tell you which is the better card yet though, so please don't ask me.

I thaught I'd share some more pictures, this time some gameplay pictures.

Overall I'm very impressed with the card, everything I turn at it, it eats it up with no problems. The best part is that this is an Ultra Card but I payed for a GT

I played Doom 3 on ultra settings with no problems, I ran the timedemo on Doom 3 with Ultra settins and got 63,2 fps

The Fligt sim pictures are all with 4aa & 8AF @ 1280x768 and the Farcry pictures are @ 6aa&16AF everything maxed out @ 1280x768

Oh you ment that it has the clockspeed of a Ultra? Yeah since its clocked at Ultraspeeds, i guess you can say it's a Ultra...its pretty strange though that they are selling them as GT's..

Yes it really is, the default speed is 400/1100 and that is ultra speed, I haven't tried clocking it higher as I don't really need to do it but with this cooling system I think it's going to overclock quite well.

What flightsim is that? I gotta install one for image quality comparisons and I haven't played many lately.
