Need help with a problem!
okay this is messed I uninstalled my nvida driver, restarted my computer and used driver cleaner, then installed the latest nvida driver and now my graphics card wont install when I go to add new hardware It has a ? mark over FX 5200 and then says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information(in the registry) is incomplete or damaged.(code 19)
Okay so I was told to use driver cleaner but that didnt help so someone from the MSI HQ Support Forum told me to come here and ask for help I dont want to end up reinstalling an operating system

ok........for one......though it may not be related......you need more memory for Windows XP or it could cause errors......not to mention slow operating speed.
and I wouldn't be posting on a web site for everyone to see that you are using a "hacked" version of Windows XP........
Have you tried:
using your system restore?
pressing F-8 while the system is booting and selecting "start in last good configuration"?
manually updating the drivers through the Device Manager?

Well I just used system restore and that fixed that problem but I still have the same problem I startred of with. When installed my Geforce FX 5200 , it installed okay but when I tried playing a game any game it was showing different colors, like one half of the screen would be red and the other half blue and and kept changing. A few times some picture shows but it some time it just goes black or when the picture shows it does a glichy thing, whats going on I updated the driver and chipset but still the same? I realy need help with this.

have you either in the past or currently overclocking the card???
those colours your stating can sometimes indicate a fault with the card not drivers,as a result of overclocking to far.

then there is mo doubt you have not overclocked.if you don't now how i would leave alone for the time being.i get that card working first.
i would give this a try but ignore optin 1:but read the read me first, doing this a second time might work(create system restore point first)
1) Download driver cleaner http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/ then install.
2) Open driver cleaner then find the option "cab cleaner" then use. This removes the old 27.42 drivers from sp1.
3) Remove drivers from add/remove option.
4) when asked to restart do so but when restart hold f8 then select "safe mode" from options given.
5) When in safe mode open driver cleaner for a second time then select "NVIDIA” then press clean. This removes any INF files windows leaves behind.
6) When complete reboot to normal, if cab cleaner is successful you should get the add hardware window instead of installing above drivers (27.42).
7) Cancel add driver window unless it’s an unzipped & locate file type driver. If it’s .exe type go to #7
7a) Disable any anti virus software.
8) Locate & install NVIDIA or ati drivers.
Reboot and things should be fine.
Ps after option 5 you might be worth reinstalling dx9.0b and the latest chipset drivers for your mobo.

I do that and then let you know how it works out,and one other thing is it okay, because the hardware automatically installs the nvida driver I have in a folder?

just a warning as when you flash your bios when you know what your doing if not either professional help or somebody you know.
if you install the wrong bios it is a difficult situation to come out from.
as for you still getting your errors on the graphics card and still not fixed you might be worth rma the card as its possibly got a fault.

This is really starting to sound like a bad card........but before throw it out the window for an RMA.....check to make sure it is seated in the socket properly.
2 yrs. on the BIOS? You NEED to have someone update your BIOS for you.....that is just to damn long. But you are going to have fun doing it. The ASUS CUV4X has several different boards, to include a dual CPU board.
ASUS CUV4X, C, CME, D, DLS, E, LS, M, ME, V, and VM.........now that is ALOT of boards!!
One thing that I did notice on the update page though......was an update for AGP 4X turn on Registry key for VIA 694x N.B. in Windows 95/98/ME/NT40/2000 dated 1-31-2002.
Do you have that update?

bios has nothing to do with the os.its a bit of software used t enable communication between all the parts on your mobo and boot up sequence etc.
you have to make a bootable floppy then install the bios.bat onto the bootable floppy, but im not sure on how to do that so ask the neon cowboy for that unless somebody else sees this post and will help.
you have to leave the floppy in when booting up to install the bios.

if it quotes win 2k then it should work on xp as they are both similar to each other.
