Slight stuttering in Quake III Arena and RTCW

I have long been a fan of the Omega 43.45 performance driver set, seems to offer my card, a Asus ti4600 the best performance and image quality.

However, recently I have changed over to a new motherboard and cpu, since installing I have noticed this problem on Windows 98se, which is my primary gaming OS.

I am using the latest 4.49 4in1 drivers for the mobo, its a Asus A7V8X Deluxe and I have managed to get quite a nice 3dmark score out of it, its just this problem remains, any suggestions?

If you're still using Win98 i believe Via says to use 4.35 4 in 1's

Happened on my previous favourite set of 4in1's too, which were the 4.37's, 4.35 didn't work for me on my old KT7A, nor the 4.36(due to crashing in 3dMark2001se... which is what was fixed mainly in the 4.37's, but I get a better 3dmark score with the 4.49's than any other set, so sticking with those, but the stuttering remains whether I use 4.37 or 4.49 set, I tried other versions too...
