Nvidia Geforce 2 400MX Monitor goes to StandBy
I recently formated my pc because of software related problems and I switched to Win 2000 Pro after years in Win98SE. After the install I first installed NAV and a firewall cause a virus gave me a hard time (pre-format). I updated and installed all the drivers for windows and the Geforce but when I tryied to run a game using 3d my monitor goes to standby mode. This happened with all 3d games I tried always the same the game starts up sound is ok but the monitor goes to standby. I can get out of standby by switching to desktop but switching back to the game causes the same problem. Everything else works ok exept when using many programs at the same time which slows my piece of junk (thanks win2000!!).
I downloaded the 52.16 whql driver for the card and also the Directx 9.0b from microsoft. I have all microsoft updates and my devices show no conflicts. I am also using a 250Watt PSU which worked perfectly with win98 and the same games. The only possible cause for what I am experiencing is the tiny and slow Ram I am going to upgrade (once I get some money) but reading through the net ppl with the same problems have not said nothing about ram so I hope it is not that.
My configuration is as follows:
PSU = 250Watt
Mobo = K7S5A
CPU = Athlon 1.3GHz Duron
RAM = 128MB 100MHz (to be upgraded)
GCard = Nvidia Geforce 2 MX400 Driver 52.16 WHQL
MainHD = WD 80 Gb 7.200 2mnth old
SecHD = WD 13 Gb really old
CDRW = 48/16/50
DVDRom = 16/24
Audio = 128 SBlaster Live with New Driver
OS = Windows 2000 Pro + SP 4 + all other updates
