zalman heatpipe on ti4200
anybody know if i put a zalman heatpipe on my ti4200, would it be better than my asus stock cooler?
to be honest i might be getting it for the fact it produce's no noise, but i'm wondering how it compares to the stock coolers?

I've just bought one of those for my fx5600  Gonna fit it tomorrow... should be fine on a ti4200 btw. My 5600 had a pretty flimsy cooler, and the zalman heatpipe is considerably more substantial... plus you can use it on a 9800 pro, so that says something. I'm going by the version I got though, which is the zm80c-hp.

i hadn't decided on the model yet, prob the best one i can get for my ti4200 which will also be universal fitting on other gpu's if i get a better one so it can be re-used

stock coolesr are often of very poor quality... the one that came on my msi 4200ti.. was super light and felt like plastic more than metal!!!! i replaced i with one of these....
I'buy the zalman heatpipes now though, they are much better coolers.......

already know where i will get it from at this rate, www.thecoolingshop.co.uk is where i am looking at as its like only £5 for the zalman passive nb heatsink and the zalman pipe is the same price pretty much plus delivery is free |

Well, Zalman heatpipe fitted today... took me a while (first attempt after all, plus back plate is a little fiddly to align) but the end result was worth it. Zero noise, and i'm already clocked the core 50mhz higher than the stock cooler... no artifacts whatsoever. In fact the only reason it's 'only' 50mhz higher is cos i've taken a break from testing atm I'm sure it's gonna go further. Needless to say I can't recommend it enough, it's a great investment. |

hey thanks for the info
my stock cooling isn't that bad on my ti4200 as it is, for benching i can get 315/594 which aint bad for a 128mb card with 4ns memory

I've been using the Zalman ZM80A-HP heatpipe-heatsink for my TI4800SE for some time now, never had any trouble with it.. ok overclocking performance also..

Zalman ZM80C-HP with ZM-OP1 fan
OK I just finished installing my new Zalman heat pipe and have a PNY G4Ti4400
this was supposed to be for a 9800Pro but 2 are RMA'D so I am loving the one I'm with.
If the Power Color Radeons weren't such garbage I could be trying it out on one of them instead.
Maybe the third one will work right.
Well anyway with the Zalman modified PNY G4 Ti4400 the Core 275 MHZ and Memory 522MHZ stock
Omega 14523a driver core 315/ memory 646 3Dmark2001 SE 330 3D marks 13553
The cooler was never hot to touch, maxed at 315/650 with artifacts but still ran, actually looked pretty cool LOL
Get the Zalman for $35.00 total including the 80mm zalman fan. This is a great buy and works even better.

I've never considered any thing to replace my stock cooler. But good performance with near-silent-sound? Um...
I'll stroll down the computer parts store and have a look.

Zalman heatpipe is overkill for a ti4200. I got a gf4 cool mod for my ti4200 and currently run it at 305/655.

My VGA fan's finally had it. It starts making strange noises upon boot up. (the sound like when your fan needs greasing) Guess I'll have to swap that fan.
1. No name VGA fan---$5?
2. Zalman 80HP--$30?

I ran my Ti 4200 OCed to just shy of Ti4600 for 6 months with the 1st Gen Zalman and never had an issue.... Works great!! |
