Gainward Geforce FX 5200 card worse then Geforce 4 TI4200?

I bought a computer back in March to become my gaming computer. Here are the specs:

Windows 98SE
P4 2.4 GHZ Processor
Geforce 4TI 4200 128mb 8x
512 MBs DDR Ram
C-Media Audio Card

The video card bought with the system slowley started to crap out and I ended up having to get it replaced. I first called the company that I bought teh computer from which will go unamed at this time ( it is isn't a major company BTW ) and they told me they will replace the card for me with a Geforce FX 5200 card free of charge. I got the card today and just installed it a little while ago and ran a Benchmark on it (MasmoBench) and it actually only scored a 548 which is about 300 under what I had scored before with the Geforce 4 card. Looking at other results it seems that this card rates below even a Geforce 3 card and just above a Geforce 2 MX400 card. Is this the norm with this card? Can I get better scores out of it some how?

I have tried to use the Omega drivers for me OS and it tells me that it cannot find Nvidia Disks 1 - 6 or so and then when I skip through it because I don't have these "disks" and I look at my DXDiag it says that the drivers that I have are the same ones before I installed the Omega ones, but it says Omega next to it... is this normal?

dood, your Ti4200 is so much better than FX 5200. A finely tuned 4200 can easily whoop an FX 5200 ultra (in games that arent in DX9 and dont have AA turned on)

The FX serires is really not a DX 9 card. Its really pretending. DX 8 is good enough

5200 is worse than my G force 3

I have an Asus 8200 Deluxe = G-Force 3. I purchased a 5200 Ultra figuring it would have to work better only to discover a 3D Mark 2003 drop of 265 points, and the graphics werent any better.

Well, and I made this discovery. Make sure that GF FX 5200 doesn't have a 64-bit memory bus!

What are the results of some of your other benchmarks? I'd love to know as I just bought a BFG GeForce FX 5200 to replace my dead Ti4600 (too broke to afford a good card).

I get 10541 on 3DMark2001SE, with settings of 800x600 16 bit with everything turned off. I have gotten 11165 defore my XP2200 crapped out, i get 1811 on 3DMark03
I have a friend that just bought a PNY FX5200 ULTRA 128 Mb and his system is very simular to mine except he has an XP2100+ and a mobo that support 8X mine is only 4X and he gets only around 10000 on 3DMark2001SE, he does get better on 3DMark03, around 2500.

maybe we should compare in-game fps...(depends on your computer), i o/c-ed my ti4200 to 270/570

if you hav the nfs:u demo, tell me whats your lowest fps in the first curve with all the cars right in front of you and with these settings (try using FRAPS):

1024x768

Card Settings:
3
LOW
0
OFF
HIGH
OFF
0
1
ON
ON
ON
ON
ON
(tell me if i missed something)

remember: you can use alt+tab to check these settings while in the menu/racing
