power error.

hey guys, this is the wrong forum for this, but i figure posting here will get the most reads. my video card has been giving me some trouble lately... it keeps coming up with a power error.

here is what i am running:
ASUS 5900 ultra 256mb
420w enlight psu
p4 2.4b
ABIT bd7-ii motherboard - i845

has anyone heard of anything dealing with this error..? it kicks me out of games at random. i have only really experienced it with halo and the chrome demo.

Hey socks I moved it into the right forum bud! Is the error ONLY occuring in those 2 demos? Have you added any other hardware lately or changed any? Have you tried taking the card out and reseating it back in the MB?

hmmm... i will try reseating the card. it really only happens when i am playing halo and anything i play shortly after, whether aa/af are enabled or not. it happened while i play the chrome demo with aa4xaf8x on as well. and even after i took those settings off, it happened.

Smilie Cool. . .

Wow, the CAT crew needs to add that utility to ATi drivers, that is SWEET! Especially considering that many, many crashes are related to crappy PSUs.

rasta

P.S. Here is your PSU rating:

It looks more than adequate. Check all your connectors for tight fit, and make sure your video card is plugged in, too! If all looks rosy, your PSU may be failing. How old is it? Many follks recommend taking the cover off and blowing the dust out every few months to avoid internal shorts.

Good luck!

You should not even have to take the cover off. A good air compressor should be able to blow the dust right out the vent slots. Removing the cover on most PSU's voids the warrenty...
