VisionTek 4600ti or MSI 5900FX?
I just got the TD-128 from MSI and I like it. I have no idea about the "scroll noises" people are talking about.
Just curious how you informed people feel the two cards compare. I was thinking with a 27 GB bandwidth and DirectX9 capability, in the future the card will be a winner.

I am sorry, I am not trying to bash nvidia or your purchase, If you are happy with it then thats whats important.
But I must say this, The FX line of cards just are not true DX9 cards!
So when DX9 games start hitting the shelfs unless they are coded for the FX (the way nvidia wants it) then they will not run right on FX cards.
DX is a standard, and unfortunately nvidia seems to have not fallowed it

Well, I have seen articles on this. The 5900 FX is programmed for DirectX9, just not the way Microsoft wants them to. I percieved this (perhaps incorrectly) to be an nVidia and Microsoft going headstrong against one another. Open GL is a standard. DirectX is a Microsoft technology. ATI followed Microsoft's specifications to the letter and were awarded the next XBOX contract. nVidia had found the XBOX contract to not be as lucrative as they had hoped and broke ranks.
I doubt nVidia will fair any better than Netscape if they continue in their ways!

Thanks.
The FX 5900 series deviates from the DirectX specification by allowing "more" floating point precision than the Microsoft standard specifies. So it is architecturally "backward compatible". That extra floating point precision just does not get used.

Yeah your right DirectX is a Microsoft technology! But it's also a technology that i'd say 90% of game are made with.

And that is sad if it happens!

Ha! But you know what? I LOVE Microsoft, Nvidia and ATI and above all else having choices! Hello? Microsoft? I am a .NET programmer, and I "totally" dig it. It blows their previous platform out of the water. ASP3 is a spaghetti code nigthmare! Aspx (asp .net) is a salvation!
It's all good. I will ultimately make my choices on video cards based on driver support over frames per second, since once a threshold is reached extra fps is superflous (at least that has been my experience).
I am curious if I should meet you in the ATI forum to find out what you love about your Radeon. For example, if I play Halo over 800x600 on my FX 5900 (non-ultra and not overclocked), the frame rates really begin to sutter. But, I cannot detect a better image quality at higher resolutions, either.
