If you read the BIOS manual that comes with board it says on page 3-15 that if you put in a 8X agp card (my Fx5200 128mb) in the AGP slot it would not show the AGP settings in BIOS as it would default to the 8X setting for the card and AGP otions would dissapear in bios. I asked the store clerk who I bought it from and he was adament that is was only a 4X capable, until I showed him the passage and he agreed with me but had no answer for me. Ive had no luck dealing with MSI technical support they are too slow to answer and I know it says board is only 4X compatable, but I swear if you read the owners manual on the page 3-15 as I described it says it can get to 8X. Any suggestions please I dont want buy a new board if I dont have to and want the extra power from 4X to 8X. I would forever be in your debt. In fact I would be willing to send somebody $10 thru PayPal for the info on how to do it I.e Bios flash wahatever it takes. Again M-Board is a " VIA KM266 chipset based KM2M COMBO SERIES" designed for AMD Atlon and duron processor, FYI I have an AMD athlon xp 1800+Thanks Clint

HI,

That board does not have AGP 8x, no matter what the manual says. The VIA 266 chipset just isnt capable of it.

But don't fret...the difference from AGP 4x to AGP 8x on a card like the 9700pro is only about 1%...since the 5200 stresses the AGP bus much less than a 9700 there will be very little (if any) difference between the 2 settings.
