GEFORCE TI4200 to a ATI RADEON 9600PRO ULTRA IS IT WORTH IT ?
I currently have a MSI Geforce 4 TI4200 128 MB (AGP 4X) video card. I have about a $200 limit after i sell my TI4200 , but my question is the ATI 9600 PRO ultra worth forking out the money for or should i just keep my Ti4200 and wait for a higher card to get cheaper? And is there a noticable differnce. does any one know of any cards in that price range that are better than the 9600 pro ultra ? I am trying to get a card that can handle up coming games better , like Half-life 2 , doom III Ect....

The r9500pro is faster than the r9600pro. You can buy a r9700NP for 200$.

And right now I know of two places that are selling 9800 Pros for less than 320.00 USD The video card is very important... best to save until you can get something that will last a couple of years... (at the rate that games arte climbing... I dont know if that old value holds true anymore... possibly more like 12mo to 18mo...)

you will find the 9600pro a pretty good card.i've been using this card from sapphire for the last week & it's a good o/c.this is the first time i have used ati the drivers are much better than nvidia espeicially when using all options like aa & af on max when o/c the stock sppeds for it are 400/600 & 325/400 for np.mines o/c to 450/330ddr & it runs like soft buter.so it would be a decent choice.
plus the added bonus of it hardware support of dx9.0 as apposed to nvidia is more software supporting style.

Don't get the 9500 or 9600 if you're a
serious gamer--they're CRAP. Sorry, I know I have a high standard but anything below 9700 Pro level won't do you good for long unless you got enough cash to fork over for a new card every 8-12 months. Why? Cuz, more and more games are coming out with full implementation of DX9 and more special eye-candy like Doom 3 and Half Life 2.
Find a good deal and buy a 9700 Pro, 9800 Pro, or a GF FX 5900 and brag about how good your games look!

The regular r9500NP card and the r9600pro/NP are all lousy, but the r9500pro is still very compitent as long as your not using too high of AA. Its identical to the r9700pro, other than half of the memory bandwidth.

bull!! he did state how much money he had to spend.that would knock the 9700pro,9800pro,fx5900 well out of the window if he can't get the rest of the cash m8.
have you tried the 9600pro o/c?
think of it this way you might still strugle to play those games in full detail with all the eye candy on as you say.

as a quote
but from above post.
when you think of the day when quke 3 arena were announced you had all the hype like this one back then stating you'd need a monster pc to even run the game and look what happened it didn't need to many resources so to call a graphics card like mine crap & going on about 2 games that not even released yet is a little premature wait till there out and let the owners of the cards find out for themselves.
my previous card were ti4600 128m card & that were amongst the fastest cards of its time and strugled like hell to play games like splinter cell/ut2k3 with the eye candy on.my 9600pro i have now does so would you still call it crap!

Even a 9700pro "lite" would be a good card to get- I had one (and then returned it)- but when I had it, I OC'd it to a very nice speed, The only difference was that it cam with memory speed of 290, but it OC'd to 340 no problem, and the core went to 350. My current "built by" ATI card only goes to 348/324 and cost about 60 dollars more than that one. Plus I had to take the shim off to get good cooling and that voided my warrantee, which I would use now, because I get artifacts at default speeds in some games.
If I had it to do over I would go get the "lite" version again. I think it was made by powercolor and it was around 250 dollars 3 months ago. I bet they are cheaper now. That's what I would do. Only difference is that it had the 3.3ns ram instead of 3.0ns like mine does now. I might even have the 2.8ns ram- but it still sux compared to the powercolor "lite" version. As long as all the pipes are enabled, it's worth it- OC it and be happy.
http://www.ateck.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=453055016 $250 - but out of stock. This is the one I bought and returned, but should have kept and saved about 80 dollars.
http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/simp...6227&ad=pwatch $270 - save on tax and shipping, save for another few weeks.
Or - buy one on e-bay from someone with a good feedback history- and check the feedback for history of happy costumers who bought 9700p's from same person in the past few months. You will be happy with yours too- You could probably get a bran new 9700pro for less than 240 dollars. Someone sold one here at DH for aroung 230 dollars a few weeks ago-- Just don't spend that much on a 9500 or 9600 when you can get a 9700p for just a little more.

Most of the cards you get off ebay are being sold because they don't mod. Check to make sure it says that it mods and is perfectly stable. They won't mention anything about the modding capabilites if the mod doesn't work.

My vote is for the Radeon 9800 NP. I included a link for it.......read the reviews of what the people are saying........sounds like the 9500 Pro modded to a 9700 Pro all over again. And the price is just a little more than what you were wanting to spend.
Radeon 9800 (non Pro)
Cheers!!

nvidia to ati
firstly download & install > driver cleaner< ver 1.9.
secondly uninstall dets reboot into safe mode
thirdly run driver cleaner nvidia option when done so switch system off.swap card over.
boot up when done so disable antiviras install 3.4 cats don't reboot then install control panal then reboot.
i state 3.4 cats are better than the latest 3.6 cats.
but i will say a switch from different brand card could be more advisable to reformat & reinstall everything.
