9800 GTX or GT? Which brand?
Ugh..So I can't decide which card I want to get. I'm looking to spend no more than 130-140 after shipping. And im looking at newegg.com. I was originally going to get the 9800 GT Ultra by Asus but when I saw some GTX's coming with a 6 pin PCI-E power converter so I could use both required 6 pin power connectors for the GTX, I decided to look at either. I figure the GTX will of course outperform but probably not by much, the memory clock is only 200 Mhz higher on average.
However I still do not know which one to get. I do not want to spend 150 unless the brand that costs that much is really just that much better. Any opinions welcome! |

Re: 9800 GTX or GT? Which brand?
There are GTX's the same price as the GT's, about 130. Nobody has any recommendations for which one?
EDIT- Or maybe even a GTS 250? Same price range, specs look the same? Last edited by -h4x0r-; Jun 5, 2009 at 05:08 PM. |

Re: 9800 GTX or GT? Which brand?
get an ATi HD 4850 or 4770
4850 equals or exceeds the 9800GTX at a similar to lower price point 4770 was recently build specifically to take down the 9800GT at a lower price and use less power.... it OCs to near GTX260 level performance as well thanks to a new 40nm core. so unless you play crysis which is heavily optimised for nvidia or want to use physX... you should go with ATi as for branding, go with EVGA for nvidia... their advanced RMA service though costs extra... is probably worth it. for ATI, id go with Sapphire, Asus, or Visiontek

Re: 9800 GTX or GT? Which brand?
Yes it looks like the 4850 is a lil better, and I can get the 1 GB DDR3 memory too. However I need Digital Vibrance and ATI does not support this. Does anyone know of a substitue for saturation/color vibrance on an ATI card ( not avivo that is for video only)
