Exclamation marks and lack of driver detection

Hey all,

I'm having this problem with my Dell XPS M1210(nVidia 7400 Go, dual core 2ghz, 2gb RAM) with exclamation marks popping up on screen after the bios loads (with lines all across the screen) before the xp load screen cuts in. The screen somtimes also turns black when i just install new drivers and even if it does come up, its like i am running in safe mode (with the crappy 1024x768 minus the safe mode wallpaper) Anyone have any ideas?

I have looked on the dell forums and theres only one case of exclamation marks like the one i have but it doesnt have a real solution since the guy who queried seems to have everything else working fine.

Re: Exclamation marks and lack of driver detection

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

The symptoms suggest that you might have some problems with the hardware of the laptop. Just a few questions. Have you checked the fan exhaust for dust? Have you monitored the GPU and CPU temperatures while running the laptop?

ps. I moved this thread to correct parts of the forums.

Yeah sorry about the wrong section, just im not used to ads on the forum, made it look smaller than it really was.

Anyway yeah i just recently got the heatsink and fan checked and cleaned out and ive checked the temps, they're fine less than 70 deg C (for CPU) but i havent checked the GPU and now i cant anyway.
