9800 gx2 quad will not work.

I have an MSI k9n diamond motherboard. I did have 2 8800gtx video cards running in sli, and they worked. You could see enable sli in nvida control pannel.
Now I am trying to get 2 9800gx2 video cards to work in sli. Nvidia drivers does not recognize both cards. The device manager in windows shows 4 geforce gx2 cards. So the motherboard is seeing these cards. There is no way to enable sli support in the drivers.
I have used drivers from 175.19 up to betas 177.41 with no luck.

other thoughts, I am using 1000w power supply with both 6 and 8 pin power plugins.

what version of windows are you using? if you're using winXP, that is the problem right there. quad-SLI only works with Vista.

If you have vista already, then, does your motherboard have what's known as a "ghost chip?" It looks like a notebook memory stick placed in between your PCI-E slots of your motherboard to have SLI enabled or disabled as needed. but seeing you had SLI going already, if your board does have one of these, then i'm sure you would have already put it to the enabled mode...

Im using xp with these cards. Guess Ill try my vista cd and see what happens. Heck I thought it was my older 590 chip set so I ordered an 780i motherboard and a quad intel cpu. Glad you told me vista is the only way to get them to work. I would have been pulling my hair out after buying all the new parts.
Thanks again.

no problem. the whole vista thing is also true if you want to run 3-way SLI as well.

just some FYI for future reference if needed
