lol ill pick my own monitor rofl. I was looking at one of dell's just 19" monitor for like 120$ which looks like a really nice one, not sure how much you know about there monitors

Dells make good monitors, i personally have experience with the 2208WFP, gorgeous display, i highly recommend at least a 1680x1050 res monitor or else youll be wasting the processing power of your system pretty much.

the current best card is the HD 3870 X2, id choose that because intel chipsets are way better than nvidia chips. i aways like the idea to get a second gpu to add just in case

and it seems ATi is ready to take down nvidia with their HD 4XXX series, but its too early to tell.........

for midrange though, 8800GT hands down
