BFG GeForce 8600 GTS OC

Hi all

Recently i bought a BFG GeForce 8600 GTS OC so i can play games like wow.

I get roughly about 20 to 40 fps depending on whats going on.

But sometimes my computer freezes, i still hear the sound afterwords but i have to reset.

I only have a basic knowledge with computers so can only really change parts etc

My guess is that the GFX is overheating but should it do this considering its new and i havnt had it for long and also what can i do to overcome this situation if this is the problem.

Thanks

System Specs

Hello and welcome to Driverheaven!

Sorry for the late reply to this thread. It's been well overdue

Is this the only thing that has been changed to the computer in terms of the upgrade? Or did you get this video card along with many other components? If you got several other components, then you want to test those out as well since it is not just the video card that is new.

When is it that the computer freezes up? does it happen when playing games or does it happen randomly? if it happens randomly then it could also be a system memory issue. It could also be an issue with the motherboard itself, likely the northbridge controller is faulty. Again, this is all assuming that you have several new components.

If you could please provide us with the rest of the system specifications, we would be able to further help you out here.

video card: 8600GTS OC
motherboard:
RAM (size/type/speed):
CPU:
PSU:
OS:

those are the most important to know.

I have the same card and play wow too man. I get 60 fps at max settings just running around cities and killing alone out in the world. When I get in to raids and people start shooting things all over the place I always stay over 40 fps being closer to 50 fps really. Card works great for me.
