7950GS AGP. is it real?
i heard a few rumors about nvida releasing an AGP counterpart of the 7950GS card. what do u all think? seems like the X1950 PRO has sparked new competition between ATi and nvidia
i kinda prefer nvidia since their cards seem to give higher FPS than similar ATi cards and don't slow down as much... those little demos are cool too

yea, but it would definitely be more expensive than 7800GS and the X1950Pro, currently in Singapore, the x1950pro is sold at SG$379 and 7800GS at SG$489...

The rumor about an AGP counterpart for the 7950GS must be true, since there's no 7950GS for PCIe in the first place...

We have just received a word from a video card manufacturer. Speaking off the record, the source claims that Nvidia is working on a GeForce 7950 GS. The details are still blurry at this moment due to the premature revelation. As you probably figured from the name, the 7950 GS will be a bit slower then 7950 GT, and it will be cheaper in order to counter ATI’s upcoming X1950 PRO.
Anyway, since the GeForce 7900 family is getting crowded due to the latest releases of the 7900 GS and the GeForce 7950 GT, as well as the upcoming 7900 GTO. We believe that there are only two likely possibilities: AGP version or OEM only.
Nvidia offered the 7900 GS as OEM only until recently when they launched it as a retail card, as well. They might offer the 7950 GS as OEM only at first, but my better assumption is that Nvidia will make it as another AGP version like the GeForce 7800 GS. This is more likely due to the vast amount of solutions already available in PCI Express.
Nvidia already introduced mid-range AGP solutions - the 7600 GS and the upcoming 7300 GT. It’s more likely that they will try to offer a better solution than the 7800 GS - especially now when there are some rumors circulating about possible AGP cards from ATI.
At this moment we are trying to obtain some more information about the 7950 GS. We will update you when we have some more solid information. Since this information has not been confirmed, consider it as a rumor and expect some details to change.

but according to many, many peeps(quite a few on this site ) agp is dead!
think it would be a good move on nv's part. should make the 7800gs an even better buy if it happens. those things r pretty cheap rt now, bringing a higher performing card at what is apparently going to be low price point(compared t oati) should drop its price lower.

Ummm. the 7950 uses SLI. There's no freakin' way that it'll work on AGP.
Am I mistaken?

you are thinking of the 750gx2. wich by the way is a 1 slot solution - meaning you dont have to have sli to use it.
tho u can sli 2 of them for quad sli. i know u know all this, momentary lapse of reason
the 7950gx2 would not work in an agp slot due to several agp limitations.

if this holds true, i might get this instead of that x1950pro. However, it must come out around the same time i get my tax return, otherwise, i'm getting an x1950pro

most likely i would still be sticking to the x1950pro too, since most probably when the 7950GS comes out, it would be darn expensive...

i was doing a little research on the two cards, X1950 PRO and the 7950GS the bandwith of the PCI-E BFG 7950GT is only 45.7GBs while the AGP HIS X1950 PRO is 47.4GBs ...........theyre pretty freaken close so i just may go ATi instead.......
especially since the 7950GS is a shaved down version of the real card, id say go ati

think u missed the whole point... it is supposed to be cheaper... & given th ediff between the possible specs i would wait at least a month until they have both been released & see what looks rt.

Newegg has the bfg 7800gs oc for 209.99 with a 50.00 rebate= 159.99.
That is a good freaking deal. I might get one for my server so I can have some 1on1's without people packing there own shit and messing up my house.
After getting the HIS x1950pro 256 and seeing how fast it is first hand, I am not sure a faster GPU would benifit from the current AGP architecture. Maybe if they added a physics processor to the card then it wouldn't bottleneck the CPU so much. I can see the limits of my system with this card and and there are not many AGP systems faster than mine unless they are on some serious H2O or phase change cooling.

Well, AGP ain't quite dead any more. The X1950 Pro is one heck of a nice card for the platform.

The 7800GS AGP is about neck and neck with the X850 XT. I wonder if this possible Nvidia card would essentially be the same speed as the X1950 Pro.
