Problems with old video card and new samsung widescreen monitor!

Hello everybody. I just got my new samsung 941BW 19" widescreen monitor in the mail form newegg, and am having issues. After updating my video card drivers (it's a nVidia GeForce3 Ti 200 64Mb, AGP) and installing the monitors drivers, I ran into two issues. 1) I can't get the monitor into its native 1440x900 resolution. I guess the video card doesnt support widescreen resolutions? 2)Even though I installed the digital drivers(multiple times) the monitor recognize a signal when plugged in to the DVI input.

So my question is is there anything i can do to change the resolution short of buying a new video card? If I do have to buy a new card, it has to be AGP, prefferably have DVI input, support 1440x900, be cheap ($50-$100), and be good enough for me to play world of warcraft. Thanks, Bill.

Well, you can add a custom resolution to match 1440x900. If you're using the old nVidia CP, then click on the Screen Resolutions thing on the left, to bring up the screen resolutions settings. Then, add a custom resolution of 1440x900.
If you're using the new nVidia CP, then I haven't a clue since I've never used it, but maybe someone else who has can help you there (if this is the case).
You won't need to buy a new video card, but, for World of Warcraft to be run at 1440x900 with all highest settings would probably require at least a GeForce 6600 or Radeon X700. If you don't mind the settings not all being set to highest, then your card will be just fine.

1440x900 isnt a choice in the "custom" resolution setting, so unless anybody has other suggestions, ill just pick up a new card. I was thinking the PNY 6200GT 256 mb for 70 bucks(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814133151), but have a question. If you look at the closeup picture of the card(http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...rd+%2D+Retail), youll see 4 little holes around the slot at the far right. This is the same as the current video card I have now. My concern is that the DVI cord from the monitor only has the flat bar, and nothing for the 4 little holes, and it doesnt work with my current card. Will this be compatible?
Comments/suggestions on a better card in my price range are all welcome. Thanks, Bill.

Ok, let's get one thing straight: I said to ADD the custom resolution, not select it.
The 6200GT is definitely better than what you have now, but it'll do the exact same thing with resolutions, you'll have to add the custom resolution if it's not there already.
As for the DVI cable, those 4 other little holes provide for analog signals IIRC. Your DVI cable from the monitor is a DVI-D cable, meaning it'll only support digital signals. If your cable had the 4 little pins around the flat bar, then it would be a DVI-I cable.
But it should work fine, regardless.
