Gainward the fastest nvidia agp card?
well i've been looking at specs of different manufactures of AGP NVIDIA gfx cards, and would you say that Gainward sell the fastest of them all? (not counting the 1500 special)
I presume this one is still for sale: looks pretty good to me.

Well, keep in mind that Gainward's 7800GS there is actually a 7900GS core. So yes, that probably is the fastest nVidia card for AGP.

well i found the 1500 limited card, it said it was no longer available. But that card had 24 pipes.
The card i linked to above, however, only has 20pipes, but mentions nothing about it being unavailable.

That is possible. Most of the sites talking about these cards are not in english and so my info is slim to none. I gave up on translating most sites because it gave me a headache trying to translate the translation. I wish they would have shipped some of these to the states when they first came out and I had the cash.

still either way you look at it, you need a new cpu long before you even seriously consider getting that video card.
i would think that 4400 you have right now matches your 1800+ pretty well.

what he said, AGP is outdated and your cpu isnt exactly going to handle such a card...just get a 7600GS man or even better, get PCI-Express were heading into DirectX 10 anyway.

even this seems kinda overkill, even if you really get that Gainward 7800GS card, its kinda similar to hooking up a dual 8800GTX SLI to a Celeron D. its pointless the performance will be limited.

well its not bad.
However, having not been able to run 'STAR TREK LEGACY' (won't even start) my bro let me borrow his 256mb ASUS ATi AX800 pro. to see if it was the Gfx that was @ fault.
I've had this card in my PC for a few days now, and despite ST LEGACY min rec of a P4 2.66GHz/AMD 2800XP+ or higher, it runs like a dream @ 1024x768x32 with 4xfsaa shadows & everything turned up to maximum. (haven't tried it @ 1600x1200 yet)
But it looks gorgeous.. & with not a jerky poor frame rate to be seen.
Home World 2 runs @ 1600x1200 with a full fleet of ships x6 multiplayer fleets.
By comparison, this card makes using my Ge-force 4Ti look like an advert for time laps photography. lol
& the same can be said for any other game i have. The only problem is the poor ass support for my 3D glasses on an ATi.card. (if not for that, I'd go out and buy one.)
Hence why i need an NVIDIA card for my 3D glasses.
I don't know if an nvidia 7800GS AGP will improve performance further or if it will fall on its arse.. But like i say, it won't be too long before i've got my bros old P4 3.0GHz system once he upgrades. When that will happen however, i'm not entirely sure. :? + i'll be able to carry over my crucial memory as its the exact same as his, I bought it ages ago, solely with the intention of using it on my bros mobo so i have 2GB & 128bit bus.
edit: i've actually got a bigger Hard Disk than him.

You and those 3D glasses.....
Its cool to be playing with decent IQ huh?
Have you overclocked that x800pro yet?
Mine overclocked like crazy. You will definitely get an idea of what your current rig can handle if you get a decent overclock out of that card. Hey, its its not yours so push it to its limits. What are brothers for?

I think so, the Bliss with the G71 (7900GT) Chip (Silent Edition) is the fastest NV AGP Card available .. if it's still available .. but the new x1950 AGP from Sapphire (ATI) is a bit faster .. think at the moment the x1950 AGP is the fastest DX9 AGP Card on the market ..

I thought the BFG OC was the fastest Nvidia AGP ?
That said, I'd be all over the X1950 Pro if you want the fastest and 3D glasses don't really turn your crank.
FiringSquad has a couple of good benchie articles:
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...ro_agp_review/
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...timate_review/
It's good to see AGP puttin' the smackdown in PCI-E...
w00t!
On the CRT front, I have a Viewsonic P225 21" CRT but am probably going to buy the G225FB also, cause that could be the last 21" Shadow-Mask CRT Viewsonic ever makes, and it has BNC as well as VGA connectors.
$449 at PC Connection, plus like $60 shipping, but no tax.
My P225 was made in 2001 and the warranty was up starting at the end of 2004, so I'm wanting a nice backup. Hope it don't suck.
Right now I've stepped down from 1920x1440 to 1856x1392 cause my poor old eyes were squinting too much. Not a bad compromise, I guess. Both these monitors go up to 2048x1536, which I do use sometimes for photo editing and such, as well as gaming (Quake 3 Arena at 2048x1536 with 4xAA looks purdy)
