8800 and 32" HDTV help

Had a bit of spare time today so I thought i'd lug the PC downstairs and tryout the component output. From my sig you'll see I have a 8800GTS, I also have a Samsung 32" LE37 TV. Using a decent set of component leads I connected the 2 up to be greeted by an almost unreadable desktop.

Ok so what am I doing wrong, Ive worked out myself that component has no way of identifying what its plugged into but when I manually try to set the resolution using the horrid control panel the max available is 1024x768. I need 1366x768 although when I tried manually entering the resolution and timings it made no difference.

Any advice or tips anyone? Oh and BTW it works perfectly with VGA cable I'd just like to try the components out of curiosity. Would I have the same problem with DVI-HDMI?

zaim will become famous soon enough

mate... if you got a tv like that, and video card like that, you do NOT want to use some cheap ass component connection.

VGA or DVI.. definately DVI the way to go

Agree totally Zaim buddy it's just that man thing thats led to the the downfall of civilizations.....'I wonder what happens if ?????'..... I was curious as to whether component output had any practical use and if not why do they include it. I have no plans to use component permanently was just mucking about.
